Hello Kitty Island Adventure Adds City Town Arcade Quest and New Shopping Spot
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is expanding its City Town content with a new Quest chain that culminates in a brand-new shopping spot tied to arcade-style play. The storyline centers on Badtz-Maru’s push to open an Arcade on the island—an idea that keeps colliding with fears, local concerns, and a whole lot of “not here” energy before City Town finally comes back into focus.
Checklists
“Insert Dream to Start” is a Quest set in Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s City Town. It serves as the opening step in a chain that ultimately unlocks the final storefront in City Town: Badtz-Maru’s Arcade, which includes three Mini-Games for players to take on.
Before you can start this Quest, you need to have already unlocked Tuxedosam’s Outfit Emporium by completing “Best Fashion Forever.” You also must bring the Imagination Cafe to a minimum level of 15. In practical terms, that level-up comes from serving customers at the cafe—up to 100 customers per day. Once those prerequisites are met, the Quest begins when you talk to Badtz-Maru.

Why the “Scout” step matters for players
The Quest’s first major objective is less about building immediately and more about clearing narrative and progression gates. You’re sent to track down Badtz-Maru and convince him to consider arcade locations—while he’s actively resisting the one place that would make the most sense for City Town plans.
To begin the scouting portion, talk to Badtz-Maru, who can be found at his Comic Stand at the Seaside Resort Docks. He explains that he wants to open an Arcade on the island, but he won’t entertain suggestions to place it in City Town because he’s afraid of the Sewers.
That’s where Keroppi enters. She shows up to help scout around Friendship Island, and the game requires you to talk to Badtz-Maru and Keroppi at each of the locations listed in the Quest flow.
Spooky Swamp
In Spooky Swamp, Badtz-Maru and Keroppi will be near the Potion Hut in the center of the area. However, they dismiss the location almost immediately after Kuromi interrupts. Kuromi yells at them about destroying her Swamp, and she pushes the idea of City Town instead—though Badtz-Maru refuses.
Gemstone Mountain
At Gemstone Mountain, Badtz-Maru and Keroppi are located just outside the Dance Hall. When you speak with them there, they decline the arcade idea because they’re enjoying their dancing at that spot. Pekkle then suggests City Town, and the fear returns—Badtz-Maru gets scared again at the mention of the sewers situation.
Rainbow Reef
In Rainbow Reef, Badtz-Maru and Keroppi can be found on the stage in the Concert Hall. Hangyodon is excited by the concept of an Arcade in that venue, but the group quickly concludes that the area is too wet for arcade machines. When City Town is brought up, Badtz-Maru runs away, keeping the chain’s tension intact and delaying progress until the next step.
- The scouting locations aren’t random fetch tasks—they’re structured to repeatedly shut down the Arcade idea until City Town is the only option left.
- Each area introduces a different reason the Arcade can’t go there (conflict with Kuromi, a Dance Hall preference, and “too wet” conditions at Rainbow Reef).
- Badtz-Maru’s core blocker is consistent: he’s scared of the Sewers, and that fear keeps resurfacing whenever City Town gets mentioned.
Comfort Badtz-Maru: the bridge to City Town
The Quest then pivots from scouting alternatives to dealing with Badtz-Maru himself. You can find him on the beach of Seaside Resort, just south of the main plaza. When you talk to him there, My Sweet Piano appears and delivers a fortune that says he needs to be brave.
Prompted by that message, Badtz-Maru reluctantly agrees to search for a City Town location. That decision doesn’t complete the chain immediately; instead, it sets up what comes next in the following Quest.
