Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 Trailer Reveals September 30 Streaming Date
A new promotional video has been released for the second season of Tenken – Reincarnato in una spada (Tensei shitara ken deshita / Reincarnated as a Sword), the animated adaptation of the light novel by Yuu Tanaka with illustrations by LLO. The series is set to begin streaming on September 30, followed by a Japanese TV premiere on October 7.
The season’s theme songs have also been announced. FZMZ will perform the opening track, “Dream of Butterfly,” while Hanabie will provide the ending song, “Baribari Buddy.”
For returning fans, the story roots itself in what the first season established: the protagonist is reborn into another world and discovers that he is now a sword, thrust into a wide, monster-filled plain. This new setting follows a game-like system, featuring stats such as HP and MP as well as attributes like strength, agility, and dexterity, alongside equipment. Guided by the instincts of a sentient blade, he travels in search of someone worthy to wield him, eventually ending up in the hands of a dangerous situation involving a cat-girl.
The cast from the previous season has been confirmed. Ai Kakuma returns as Fran, Shinichirō Miki reprises his role as Maestro, and Yūma Uchida continues as Jean du Vix.
On the production side, Shinji Ishihira returns to direct the series for C2C, with Kazunobu Shimizu serving as assistant director. Takahiro Nagano is again credited with series composition and script duties, and Atsuko Saitō returns for character design. Music will be handled by Yasuharu Takanashi, also confirmed for the new season.
The first season originally aired in fall 2022 and is available through ANiME Generation, the Yamato Video channel on Amazon Prime Video, including an Italian dub. The manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama is published in Italy by Panini Comics under its Planet Manga imprint.
