Checklists
A New Fence for Fisk is a quest in Gothic 1 Remake that only becomes available after you finish Out of Sight for Thorus. With Mordrag removed from the Old Camp, Fisk is unhappy because you’ve disrupted the supply line that kept his business running. This guide explains how to keep things from turning into a fight with Fisk, and how to locate a replacement “fence” so he can continue trading.

Remove Mordrag from Old Camp to Unlock the Quest
To get Mordrag out of Old Camp, you have two options: you can kill him outright, though that’s especially tough early on, or you can follow the steps of the Out of Sight quest. Completing that quest causes Mordrag to escort you to New Camp, which is also a convenient way to thin out some of the harder enemies you’d otherwise have to deal with while traveling between the two areas. Follow the instructions on the Out of Sight quest page for the cleanest method to remove Mordrag from Old Camp.
Talk to Fisk
After Mordrag is gone from Old Camp—however you managed it—head to the Old Camp market and speak with Fisk. He’s going to confront you about what happened.
Choose Your Words Carefully
If you pick the dialogue option “I don’t give a shit.”, you will be prevented from starting or completing this quest. In other words, choosing that response blocks the entire opportunity to help Fisk, so you won’t be able to finish the objective.
Choose “Relax. I’m sure we can fix this.” to begin. Fisk will then ask you to locate a new fence in New Camp to replace Mordrag.
How to Find Fisk a New Fence in New Camp
- In-game objective – “I’m supposed to find a new fence for Fisk.”
To secure a replacement fence, you’ll need to explore New Camp and track down the right person. If you already had Mordrag escort you there as part of the Out of Sight quest, you’ll remember the route. If you’re going there on your own, use the directions from the How to Travel to New Camp guide to get oriented.
Once you arrive in New Camp, make your way to the Free Mine area, climbing uphill past the rice fields.
Go through the guarded gate, cross the dam bridge, then take a left at the large opening in the wall. That turn leads you directly into the Free Mine.
This larger, circular section of New Camp is packed with Mercenaries, Bandits, and Mages. Among them is the one person you’re looking for: Sharky. He’s a little hidden compared to the others.
When you enter the Free Mine, look downward and slightly to the left. You should spot a campfire a few levels below.
Follow the paths down toward the campfire. As you move along the left-hand wall, watch for a gap that sits just past a broken wall. It’s also right beside a hut that has an open doorway.
Walk over to that spot, and you’ll find Sharky tucked into the gap, sitting on a bench.
Sharky sells a few items similar to what Mordrag offered. With the quest active, you can ask him to come to Old Camp and take Mordrag’s place. He doesn’t require much convincing—once you make the request, you’re ready to return to Fisk with the good news.
Report Back to Fisk
- In-game objective – “I can tell Fisk that I’ve found him a new fence.”
When you’re back in Old Camp, return to Fisk in the market. He’ll recognize Sharky, share a laugh, and then tell you he won’t interfere with Diego—which effectively means he’ll back you. Completing the quest grants 300 Experience Points and helps move you forward in the Casting Shadows quest.
