The Boys VR Game Announced: Trigger Warning Hits Quest 3 and PSVR 2 in 2026

The Boys is officially stepping into VR, with a new game adaptation titled The Boys: Trigger Warning planned for Meta Quest 3 and PlayStation VR 2 in spring 2026. The project is described as a VR-only experience developed by members of the show’s writing team, and it will include real cast appearances.

Instead of following the TV story beat-for-beat, players will take control of Lucas Costa, a newcomer pulled into the action after a Vought operation goes wrong. Here’s what’s been revealed so far about the plot, how the powers work in gameplay, and what to expect visually.

Quick facts

  • Coming to Meta Quest 3 and PlayStation VR 2
  • Planned window: spring 2026
  • VR exclusive developed with the show’s writers
  • Players control Lucas Costa in first-person VR
  • Lucas can use telekinesis, laser eyes, and hand blades, plus stealth tools like camouflage
  • Homelander and Billy Butcher appear; voice casting for Starr and Urban is not yet confirmed
  • Pre-orders are available now for Quest and PSVR 2 at $23.99

New Protagonist Among Familiar Faces

Lucas Costa is the central playable character in The Boys: Trigger Warning. The setup starts when a Vought family outing falls apart, prompting The Boys to pull Lucas back from the edge and grant him powers.

Once Lucas is equipped, players can fight through threats in the Vought International underworld. The game is played in first-person VR, and Lucas can team up with The Boys as he uses a mix of abilities to pressure enemies directly.

Several recognizable characters from the Amazon Prime Video series are set to appear. Homelander and Billy Butcher are confirmed in the game, but the specific voice performances for Anthony Starr and Karl Urban have not yet been confirmed.

Laz Alonso and Colby Minifie will reprise their roles as Mother’s Milk (MM) and Ashley Barrett, respectively. P.J. Byrne will return as Adam Bourke, and Jensen Ackles will portray Soldier Boy, who is presented as an exclusive character for The Boys: Trigger Warning.

Missions & Powers

The show’s premise revolves around celebrity superheroes—called “Supes”—who misuse their influence and can become genuinely dangerous. Billy Butcher leads a vigilante group determined to oppose the Supes and expose the rot behind their public image.

That power imbalance is built into the VR gameplay. Supes in the series each bring their own skill sets, and as Lucas Costa, players will have access to a range of abilities in The Boys: Trigger Warning. Telekinesis is one of the key tools, letting players move and manipulate objects with their minds, which should translate especially well to VR interactions.

Lucas also gets hand blades, described as similar to Wolverine-style weapons, giving players a fast option for close-quarters fights. For missions that call for stealth, camouflage will help keep Lucas hidden and out of sight.

Homelander’s laser eyes are framed as one of the strongest abilities in the The Boys universe. Lucas can mimic John’s power across different missions, and the description emphasizes that Homelander’s laser eyes can slice through almost anything—meaning they should be a go-to tool during high-pressure combat moments.

With creators from the series involved, the expectation is that The Boys: Trigger Warning will feel like the show. Superpowers are positioned as the core of the experience, and missions are said to combine stealth segments with full-on fights, aiming to keep the loop varied.

On the visuals side, the game is described as looking solid, with character designs recognizable from the official screenshots. There may be VR titles with stronger presentation, but the suggestion is that ARVORE Immersive Games may be prioritizing gameplay over graphical polish. Either way, the gameplay is still pitched as offering plenty of entertainment time, and the graphics are presented as good enough.

Platforms & Release Date

After a long period of speculation, The Boys: Trigger Warning was formally revealed in December. The collaboration is credited to AVORE alongside Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR), bringing the IP into the VR space.

The game is set for Meta Quest and PSVR 2, with Steam VR not included at this stage. On Quest 3, 3S, and Pro, it can be played both sitting or standing, and the Meta Quest store lists a “Comfortable” comfort rating.

Pre-orders are already open for Quest and PSVR 2, and the price is set at $23.99. A specific release day hasn’t been announced yet, but spring 2026 is the currently stated target.
