Forza Horizon 6 Winter Playlist: Sotoyama Treasure Hunt Guide

The Horizon Decades Festival Playlist for Winter is bringing back a familiar style of challenge in Forza Horizon 6: the Sotoyama Region Treasure Hunt, where you’ll smash open a treasure box in Japan’s northern snowfields for big Festival progress and credits.

Sotoyama Region Treasure Hunt: Where to find it

To complete the Winter Playlist challenge, you need to hit a treasure box called the Sotoyama Region Treasure Hunt location, set in the northern snowy portion of FH6’s Japan.

When you land the find, the reward is 100k Credits plus 3 Season Points. Those Season Points contribute toward unlocking the two Winter Season cars: the Ram SRT-10 2006 Dodge and the F-150 SVT Lightning 2003 Ford.

Location-wise, the treasure is in the northwestern part of the map. Look for a wooden cabin near the mountains. There isn’t a prominent nearby landmark event, but you can navigate by driving northwest from the Off Piste Wristband event—at that point the treasure should be easier to spot.

During testing, getting up the hill toward the cabin from the west caused trouble. If you run into the same issue, use a more capable off-road setup and approach from the east instead.

If you’d rather follow along visually, there’s also a video walkthrough available that shows the treasure being located in real time.

Extra Festival and Japan stamp goals

If you’re chasing additional Discover Japan progress through photography, you’ll want to track down the photography spots tied to more Stamps. The relevant items to look for include Sky Lanterns, Tanabata Streamers, and the Kitayama Big Daisugi.

For other larger unlockables tied to Japan-themed collections, there are also guides covering where to find all Treasure Cars and all Barn Finds.

What to watch next

With the Sotoyama Treasure Hunt tied to Winter Festival Playlist progress, your next step is simply lining up a route to the cabin in the northwestern mountains—ideally using an off-road-capable car and approaching from the east if the western hill stalls you. Once you’ve got the treasure, you can pivot to the remaining Japan stamp objectives (Sky Lanterns, Tanabata Streamers, and Kitayama Big Daisugi) or continue working through the broader Treasure Cars and Barn Finds lists.
