Every Devil Fruit Category’s Best User in One Piece, Explained
Devil Fruits in One Piece are among shonen anime’s most inventive power systems, largely because they can grant users anything from gimmicky, nearly pointless tricks to abilities capable of ending the world. Their results are wildly inconsistent, and that unpredictability is part of what makes the series’ fights so memorable.
Within the broader Devil Fruit categories, One Piece also features standouts—fruits that push their classes to the extreme. In each major grouping, one user and one fruit often dominate the conversation, representing the ceiling of what that category can offer. And while characters like the Gorosei are portrayed as some of the franchise’s strongest figures, certain Devil Fruit users are presented as true rivals to that kind of power.
Rob Lucci Is the Strongest User of a Regular Zoan Fruit

In the modern era of One Piece, regular Zoan-type Devil Fruits don’t always receive the same spotlight as other fruit classes. Their abilities are often viewed as more straightforward, less flashy, and therefore easier to dismiss. Still, it’s hard to argue that any character has extracted more from standard Zoan power than Rob Lucci.
Lucci’s danger comes from how thoroughly he understands the Six Powers, combined with his solid proficiency with basic Haki techniques. During the Water 7 Saga, that combination made him an especially threatening presence. His reintroduction on Egghead raised the stakes further: Lucci was shown undergoing an Awakening, and he also resisted attempts to take over his Zoan abilities—leaving him stronger and faster than he had been before.
King Is the Strongest User of an Ancient Zoan Fruit

Kaido’s Beast Pirates are filled with serious threats, and his top commanders—the Calamities—are repeatedly framed as among the strongest Yonko subordinates in the setting. Even with that stacked lineup, King stands out thanks to his natural physical power, which is amplified by his Ancient Zoan abilities.
As a Lunarian, King already benefits from unusual traits, including extreme durability. His Pteranodon-based fruit takes that durability even further, while also giving him the ability to fly at terrifying speeds. On top of his body and mobility, King is also skilled with Haki, which is why Zoro needed to unlock Conqueror’s Haki and bring everything he had to the fight in order to defeat him.
Imu Is the Strongest User of a Mythical Zoan Fruit

The Akuma no Mi is known simply as the “Devil’s Fruit,” and the myths around it treat it as either the origin point of Devil Fruits in general—or even the first one to be born into the world. While Mythical Zoans have become common enough in the story to be treated as some of the greatest tools to wield, the Akuma no Mi is still positioned as potentially the very best of them.
With this power, Imu appears able to grant demonic abilities and transformations to subordinates, as well as create world-altering bonds with others even against their will. He also stands out as one of the series’ most formidable Haki users, but the fruit’s versatility may be what truly sets Imu apart—suggesting the Akuma no Mi is among the most varied Devil Fruits in all of One Piece.
Blackbeard Is the Strongest User of a Logia Fruit

Any power that can undo the rules of the power system itself is naturally going to feel unfair. That’s the core reason Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi is often argued as the strongest Devil Fruit overall in One Piece. It’s not the hardest-hitting Logia around—Akainu’s Magma Fruit is the more obvious example of that—and it also doesn’t offer the multiple, layered “special effects” that many Mythical Zoans are known for.
What makes the Yami Yami no Mi terrifying is its darkness-based ability to draw people in and completely suppress their Devil Fruit powers. In practice, that becomes a direct counter even to some of the strongest Mythical Zoans in the setting, including Imu’s and Luffy’s. Because of that matchup advantage, the Yami Yami no Mi keeps a strong claim to being the single most powerful Devil Fruit in One Piece.
One Piece is packed with striking, high-impact transformations, even beyond the Straw Hat Pirates.
Whitebeard and Blackbeard Are the Strongest Users of a Paramecia Fruit

Even if the Yami Yami no Mi may top the charts for special-ability advantage, the Paramecia “punchiest” honor goes to the Gura Gura no Mi. This fruit, originally owned by Whitebeard, lets its user generate shockwaves and tremors of astonishing strength across any surface—at any intensity. Those impacts can escalate into effects strong enough to shake the world itself.
Whitebeard didn’t just demonstrate the power—he managed to flip an entire island with it. Sengoku also weighed in on the threat level, stating that if the Gura Gura no Mi were used with the right intent, it could destroy the world. Then Marineford War’s end brought tragedy: Whitebeard died, and Blackbeard—somehow—stole the fruit from his body.
That theft shaped Blackbeard into a unique anomaly: he became the only person in history able to use two Devil Fruits at the same time. With that rare capability, the series frames him not only as a top-tier threat, but arguably the strongest fighter in the setting.
