Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Havana Scarecrows Treasure: Letter Clues Guide
In the opening stretch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag while you’re spending time in Havana, you can stumble across a letter tucked into the market stalls, sitting near a pair of scarecrows. The note teases a treasure find by following a set of clues, but it doesn’t exactly spell everything out—so if you’ve been wandering around, you may be wondering whether there’s actually more to uncover. After digging into the area carefully, the chest is real, and in this guide I’ll show you the exact route to reach the Havana Scarecrow treasure in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
Starting the Havana “To All Who Seek Glory” Hunt
This optional treasure hunt begins by going to the market zone on the ___ side of Havana. Once you’re there, look for a stall where two scarecrows are positioned around it.
Approach the stall and interact with a letter titled “To All Who Seek Glory.” The message reads:
“Fame and Fortune await you, should you wish to walk the same Path as I. The Plunder you seek is close, and the Hunt is on. Seek out the next Clue! Head South, and keep a keen Eye out for Scarecrows.”
The instruction sounds straightforward—go south and watch for scarecrows. What can throw you off is the wording that implies another clue exists somewhere after the first one. After searching the southern area where scarecrows appear, it’s easy to come away thinking you’re missing something. Still, the truth is that there’s no separate “next clue” in the usual sense; instead, you’ll find a chest with treasure and another note that connects directly back to the “To All Who Seek Glory” letter.
Route Through the Scarecrows to the Chest
- Head south as the note instructs.
- Find a scarecrow standing beside a wagon filled with hay. There’s no note or clue here, so continue down the path.
- Keep going until you spot two more scarecrows standing close together near benches, a fence, and a road that runs east.
- Take the road heading east.
- You’ll then see another pair of scarecrows next to a door you can’t open normally.
- Even though the door is locked, you can parkour up to get over it, then drop down through the area because the roof above is open.
Inside, you’ll locate a large blue chest, plus a note placed beside it. There’s also a scarecrow in the room, reinforcing that this is tied to the “To All Who Seek Glory” letter you collected earlier.
Rewards and What the “Congratulations” Note Says
Opening the chest counts toward one of the seven Havana secrets. You’ll also receive the rare trinket “Exotic Sea Shells.”
The note beside the chest is titled “Congratulations, young pirate,” and it frames the treasure as a personal message—part of a father’s gift to his son. It reads:
“Games and Jaunts aside, well done, my little Explorer. Well done, my James! I never doubted you. Within the chest are baubles and trinkets that should bring you some joy, while I’m gone. It will be some time before I return, but take courage! For the treasure was not the real prize, but the intrepid spirit that brought you herer. Hold fast to that until I am with you again.”
Before you leave, check the room carefully: you can also find some Reales tucked into the corner opposite the chest, so grab those while you’re there.
