Ao no Hako Season 2 Trailer Reveals Taiki and Chinatsu’s New Challenges
The badminton-and-basketball romance of Ao no Hako is heading back to TV this October, with a new promotional trailer and fresh artwork giving viewers a clearer look at what’s coming next for Taiki Inomata and Chinatsu Kano. The second season is set to premiere on October 4, and the latest preview leans into new personal hurdles for the main duo as their relationship grows alongside their ambitions.
Taiki, a middle school student who attends Eimei Academy—known for its strong sports program—plays on the boys’ badminton team and has his sights set on Chinatsu Kano, a basketball player who trains in the gym every morning. Their story takes an unexpected turn in spring when Chinatsu begins living at Taiki’s home, turning their day-to-day proximity into both a chance at closeness and a pressure cooker for the future. Determined to become someone Chinatsu can respect, Taiki pushes himself harder toward a bigger goal: qualifying for the national tournaments.
The new trailer puts Chinatsu front and center, focusing on drama tied to the return of a former teammate from her basketball past—someone who comes back carrying a strong grudge toward her. As old emotions resurface, the season’s stakes expand beyond training schedules and match-day nerves, moving into how the characters handle history catching up with them.
It also reveals the music that will frame the new episodes. The opening theme will be “Anata no Hana no Iro”, performed by aiko, while the ending theme is “blue in”, sung by the indie/pop group elsewhere kikou.
Beyond the plot updates, there’s also a notable production change. Daisuke Sato, previously associated with Lupin ZERO, takes over directorial duties from Yūichirō Yano. Production is moving to Electric Circus, replacing Telecom Animation Film. Series composition will be handled by Yūko Kakihara, with character design by Miho Tanino.

Manga wraps up as anime moves into its next run
While the animated adaptation continues with its upcoming block of episodes, the original manga has already reached its end. Written and illustrated by Kouji Miura, the series officially concluded on July 12, 2026, with the publication of chapter 250. The run lasted five years and was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump. In Italy, the manga is published by Star Comics.
