Black Ops 7 Zombies Guide: Master Ninja Kite Gliders on Kowakujo

Fast travel has never really been missing from Black Ops 7 Zombies, but the Kowakujo map puts a fresh spin on it. Instead of a typical warp, this Japan-themed location uses Ninja Kites that lift you into the air—then let you glide down to where you’re headed. Even if the whole thing feels a bit light on control (you can’t steer the glider), there’s still a practical upside: you can use the mid-air glide to pick up free Essence.

Here’s a complete, guide-style walkthrough for Kowakujo’s main quest easter egg in Black Ops 7 Zombies, including the steps you need to reach the final cutscene.

How to Use the Gliders in Kowakujo

To start, you’ll need to collect the glider from the Tenshu Rooftops. You can reach this area through the Pack-a-Punch room: there’s a wall opening that lets you get up onto the roof. Once you’re there, face the area and look left. You should spot a flagpole decorated with paper fish, and interacting with it grants access to the Ninja Kite for 500 Essence.

Keep expectations in check: the Ninja Kite isn’t a true manual glider. In practice, it’s closer to a fancier fast-travel mechanic. That said, the system does have key input interactions—on console you’ll use the Left Stick, while on PC you’ll rely on the movement keys.

Right before you reach the big tree, you get a brief window to set where you’ll land. Use the Left Stick to choose your direction, and you’ll get one of three landing outcomes:

  • If you don’t press anything, you’ll touch down at the Outer Ward spawn area.
  • If you press left, you’ll land in the Flower Garden.
  • If you press right, you’ll land at the Stables / Training Area.

Even though it’s designed for quick travel, it’s not necessarily faster than just running—especially if you have Stamin-Up active. Still, the Ninja Kite system pays off because it lets you see Essence floating mid-air, and you can glide into those drops. So while the initial glide costs 500 Essence, you could realistically walk away with 2,000 Essence or more depending on what you pick up during the descent.

Only one part of the Kowakujo main quest actually depends on using the Ninja Kite: the step involving the Fox / Kitsune Mask. A dedicated guide for that specific objective is available. You’ll also earn a piece of Zombie Intel the first time you use a Ninja Kite.
