Where Winds Meet 1.8 Brings Homestead Overhaul, Dynamic Pets, Events

Everstone Studio has announced that Where Winds Meet will receive its next major update, version 1.8, on June 25. The patch is titled Companions Make Home, and it brings a major Homestead overhaul, plus a new pet system and multiple limited-time events designed to give players fresh goals right away.

Version 1.8: Homestead rebuild returns to Qinghe

The centerpiece of patch 1.8 is the Homestead system. As part of the update, you’ll head back to Qinghe to rebuild Blissful Retreat—the same village that was destroyed during the game’s first big boss storyline earlier in your journey.

This isn’t just a cosmetic housing feature. The Homestead update adds a full estate management layer where you can recruit villagers as workers, oversee day-to-day operations, and construct structures across the property. Buildings include inns, porcelain kilns, and farms, while other activities—such as brewing wine and trading—help restore the area to what it used to be.

Engaging with Homestead activities earns you exclusive currency that feeds into the Homestead Shop. The shop includes free rewards, such as the Summer’s Blush outfit. A social feature named Beyond Artistry is also planned for July, enabling you to design, display, and share your customized residences with other players.

New pets in Where Winds Meet: cats and geese

What’s included at launch and what arrives later

The pet system lands with version 1.8, adding cats and geese as interactive companions. These pets are designed to behave dynamically, reacting to weather conditions and world events as you play.

  • Day one (launch): three cats named Maverick, Scar, and Pudding
  • Week two: a goose named Goldie

Pet customization, bonding, and future battle mode

Players can dress up their pets and use dedicated emotes, plus interact with them directly. As you progress through bonding, you’ll unlock companion outfits. The update also includes the exclusive Cute Master player cosmetic.

In addition, the game confirms that a pet battle system is coming in a future update.

Limited-time events coming with patch 1.8

Patch 1.8 also includes several limited-time events. Here’s the schedule and what each one offers.

June 25: Martial Path Domain

The Martial Path Domain begins on June 25. It’s a 20-floor challenge for five-player teams at level 60 and above. Players competing for top placement can earn Hero Titles.

June 25: Tomb Raiders

Also launching on June 25, Tomb Raiders is a PvPvE event mode. During the event, you’ll earn event points that can be exchanged for a rare purple mount and other valuable items.

July 3: Phantom Thief Goose

Starting on July 3, Phantom Thief Goose puts you in the role of Goose Bo. Your mission is to infiltrate Heaven’s Pier using goose-themed abilities. The event is positioned around lots of honking, pecking, and stealth-style attacks.

July 10: Jianghu Martial Games Second Edition

On July 10, the Jianghu Martial Games Second Edition arrives with three mini-games. A limited-time Dangling Carrot outfit is listed as the featured reward.

What to watch after the update

With the main features covered—Homestead rebuilding, new companion pets, and the lineup of limited events—the big question is how players will use the Homestead system. Between restoring Blissful Retreat and building out your own custom spaces, the patch aims to bring that “Blissful is back” feeling to the forefront.
