Sadie Sink Reveals Marvel Kept Her Spider-Man Role Secret Until Filming
Stranger Things star Sadie Sink says the mystery surrounding her still-unannounced role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was so tightly controlled that she didn’t know what her character would actually be, and she even arrived in London to film the Marvel movie without getting a peek at the script.
Sink shared the details in an interview with Nylon, explaining how she’s been able to keep her part under wraps so far—and suggesting it’s less complicated than it sounds.
“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” she said.
She also talked about the reaction to her casting, noting that Marvel’s influence and scale are hard to miss—especially with Spider-Man. “I knew that Marvel was a big deal and had a big brand, especially Spider-Man,” she said. “I know there’s a huge fan base, but it feels really big. I think these blockbuster movies are a whole different beast.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Cast and Characters: Who’s Confirmed for the MCU Sequel?
Even with the size of the production, Sink says she quickly found a comfortable connection on set—Tom Holland, who she credits as both a coworker and a friend, and someone who already understands what it takes to keep secrets from a massive audience.
“It was interesting stepping into that space and being a little bit of an outsider in that way, but he could not have been more welcoming, and just the whole crew in general. He was just so relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease,” she explained.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day set to open in theaters in just under a month, Sink’s character still hasn’t been officially revealed. Still, many viewers are growing more convinced that she’s portraying Jean Grey, pointing to marketing material that seems to emphasize her psychic abilities—showing her taking control of people’s minds, including those of other heroes.
For now, it looks like the story has been setting her up as the movie’s antagonist, though the full picture won’t be confirmed until Marvel chooses to reveal more.
