Raise the Black Flag Mission Guide: Brigs, Loot, and Objective Walkthrough
Raise the Black Flag is the eleventh mission in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. If you’ve already learned how to deal with smaller ships, this next step pushes you into bigger targets: brigs. This walkthrough focuses on completing the mission objectives, looting the Metal you need, and moving the story forward.
Checklists
Now that you’re comfortable taking down small ships, it’s time to test your luck against a larger brig. In this walkthrough, you’ll follow the objectives required to loot brigs and progress through the main story.
How to Start Raise the Black Flag
Right after finishing Prizes and Plunder, you can begin Raise the Black Flag. To start the quest, talk to Hornigold at Salt Key Bank.
Once the mission begins, your next goal is to locate brigs and collect the Metal they carry. Sail out from Salt Key Bank, then use your Spyglass to find brigs on the water.
When you spot a brig, mark it so you can keep tracking it. Doing this early helps you prepare for a harder fight than what you’ve faced so far.
Brig Hunting: What to Do and What to Watch For
As you search, keep these points in mind to avoid unnecessary damage and to make your boarding and combat more manageable.
- During brig hunts, strong winds can come into play. You need to steer against them, or they can harm the Jackdaw.
- Brigs may try to ram you. When this happens, either fully open your sails to speed away, or brace during the impact to help reduce the damage.
- For sharper turns, slow down and drop the sails.
Combat Tactics for Looting Metal
To make brigs easier to fight—and to help you secure enough Metal—you’ll want to use powder and follow-up fire.
- From the back of the Jackdaw, throw out powder barrels. Shoot them so they explode.
- Drop powder barrels and then speed away to lure brigs into chasing you, setting up easier hits.
- Use the Swivel Gun for follow-up shots on barrels and for dealing damage to the hull.
- You won’t be able to rely on a single ship. You’ll need to defeat more than one boat to gather enough Metal. If your Jackdaw takes heavy damage, you can repair it after taking down a brig.
- When you’re on board, you can shoot red barrels. Alternatively, ignite them and keep your distance.
- When boarding, cut enemy flags to reduce morale.
How Many Ships You Must Clear (and What Happens Next)
To meet the mission requirement, you need to clear at least two ships to obtain the 70 Metal you’re aiming for. After attacking and taking those ships down, your Wanted Level increases, and Pirate Hunters will appear to pursue you.
Bribe and Upgrade: Metal Spend Plan
With the brigs cleared and your Wanted Level raised, return to Salt Key. Speak to the local officer to bribe him for 400 Reales.
After that, go back to the harbour master to upgrade the ship again. This upgrade focuses on improving the cannons, and it costs the 70 Metal you just plundered.
