Essential Stats
- Persuasion Points: 6 Charm / 8 Intimidate
- Minimum Decryption: Average Decryption
- Minimum Electronics: Hard Electronics
Travel to Pax
- Location: Horsehead Nebula – Pax – Noveria
Noveria is an ice-cold, unforgiving destination, home to corporations that work on technologies and research that are—at best—questionable. Start by heading to the Horsehead Nebula, then move to the star system named Pax. Before you land, be sure to grab the system’s only Discoverable.
When you’re ready, Noveria itself is easy to spot thanks to a large label marking the planet’s position. Land on Noveria to begin this portion of the mission.
Recommended Loadout
- Squad Tactics:
- Wrex is strongly recommended here because the latter half of the mission throws out some of the most dangerous enemies, and he can absorb punishment effectively.
- Bring Tali or Garrus as well, since their Decryption and Electronics capabilities will be useful.
- Unique Dialogue:
- Liara is recommended for unique dialogue content, tied to the presence (or implications) of her mother, Matriarch Benezia.
- If you don’t mind returning to the Normandy later, choose Wrex for his familiar dry, blunt humor.
- Shepard’s Loadout:
- You’ll mostly encounter organic enemies during this stretch, so use Anti-Personnel / Shredder Rounds.

Go to Noveria
After you leave your ship, follow the straight path from the Normandy. Before long, you’ll encounter a guard team led by a woman named Maeko Matsuo. Whatever your approach, there’s no room for conversation here—eventually both sides draw their weapons.
- Select “We’ll cooperate” or “Easy, people” for +2 Paragon Points.
- Select “I’m keeping my gun” for +2 Renegade Points.
Good news: an additional female voice cuts in over the intercom. You’ll be allowed to keep your weapons and continue forward without further trouble.
Once you’re inside the nearby building, progress is limited at first—weapon sensors immediately flag your presence and armaments, triggering security. If you push on toward the elevator, you’ll automatically start talking with Gianna (or you can initiate the conversation manually once you reach the security desk). Gianna can fill you in on what’s happening on Noveria, though the situation is described as being extremely complicated.
If Liara is in your squad, then following a conversation with Parasini, she’ll ask Shepard whether they’re comfortable bringing her along, citing her connections to Matriarch Benezia and her dedication to the team. You’ll then be prompted to decide whether to keep her:
- Choose “Don’t worry,” “Come with us,” or “You can try” to keep Liara in the squad.
- If you choose “Go back to the ship,” you’ll be sent to the Squad selection menu to swap members. Oddly enough, you can still select Liara afterward.
Remember, you can always return to the Normandy manually, then exit again to adjust your squad if you’re not satisfied with your current choices.
One more thing: before you head to the elevator, you can backtrack toward Maeko near the front door—the same point where the security team originally intercepted you earlier. Speaking with her can earn you morality changes:
- Choose “Forget about it” for +2 Paragon Points.
- Choose “Humiliating, wasn’t it?” for +2 Renegade Points.
