Naruto: 4 Teammates Who Made Madara Uchiha Go Beyond His Limits
In Naruto, Madara Uchiha didn’t just rise to power during the Warring States Period—he became the Uchiha Clan’s figurehead, celebrated as a genuine prodigy. His abilities were so obvious that even grown ninjas struggled to measure up, because Madara could take them on and win despite his youth. That kind of talent comes with a long paper trail of victories, including getting hands-on with the Nine-Tails and clashing directly with Hashirama Senju.
Madara’s influence didn’t stop at individual fights. His presence pushed the wider ninja world to set aside old grudges and fight as one, and across the story, only a small number of people managed to push him to the edge of what he could handle. It’s a reminder that Madara’s power mattered—but so did the rare fighters capable of matching it.
Still, there’s a catch: Naruto has been weakened, and in his current reduced condition, he isn’t anywhere near Konoha’s strongest ninja.
Hashirama Senju Was Madara’s Only True Rival
- Unique powers: Wood Release, Sage Mode
You can’t really talk about Madara without bringing Hashirama into the conversation. The two were close friends who understood and respected each other, and after they grew up, they became leaders of their respective clans. Unfortunately, peace never lasted between their sides. As a result, Madara and Hashirama fought multiple times, and while their overall strength was close, Hashirama consistently held the advantage.
Hashirama had Wood Release—described as one of the strongest Kekkei Genkai in the series—and he used it to overwhelm Madara every single time. When regular techniques weren’t enough, Hashirama boosted his power by drawing on Sage Mode. Their final showdown took place in God Valley. Madara did everything he could to stop Hashirama, but Hashirama was just one step ahead. The battle ended when Hashirama stabbed Madara through the chest, effectively ending his reign of terror.
Naruto Uzumaki Proved He Could Match Madara—After Getting Six Paths Power
- Unique powers: Six Paths Sage Mode, Nine-Tails Chakra Mode
Naruto’s first encounter with Madara is portrayed as a moment that hits hard immediately. The hero watches in disbelief as Madara takes on the entire Shinobi Alliance by himself, showcasing a level of strength so legendary that even the reanimated Hashirama struggled against it. Naruto understood it wouldn’t be easy to stop him, but the odds didn’t stop him from trying.
Unfortunately, Naruto’s Nine-Tails Chakra Mode couldn’t finish the job—especially once Madara became the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails. The situation got so dangerous that Naruto had to be pulled back from the brink of death.
Everything changes after Naruto meets Hagoromo. From there, Naruto receives power linked to the Sage Of Six Paths, and his overall strength jumps dramatically. His chakra reserves improve, and he becomes much less vulnerable to damage from Truth Seeking Orbs. After that upgrade, Naruto is able to fight Madara on even terms without being forced into survival mode. Madara’s limbo clones and his meteors still fail to make meaningful progress against him.
As the fight nears its end, Madara struggles to find space to breathe. The implication is clear: if Black Zetsu hadn’t interfered by removing Madara, Naruto likely wouldn’t have had any trouble finishing him.

Might Guy and the Eight Inner Gates Put Madara on the Defensive
- Unique power: Eight Inner Gates
Before Naruto and Sasuke gained Six Paths-level abilities, the burden of stalling Madara fell on Minato and the people closest to him. Even with a numerical advantage, they struggled to push back the Uchiha. In that same phase, Might Guy—operating out of the Seventh Gate—still couldn’t break through Madara’s defenses. Because a straight, individual-style approach wasn’t working, the group shifted tactics.
Rather than trying to duel Madara one-on-one, they built a plan designed to create an opening for Might Guy to land a hit. The key change was that Guy would use the eighth and final gate, while Minato and Rock Lee worked together to clear the Truth Seeking Orbs out of the way. With that setup, Guy finally gets the chance to deliver a devastating blow. Madara attempts to stop the attack with his staff, but Guy’s movement is so fast that he can bend space-time. The moment the strike connects, a huge portion of Madara’s body is destroyed. The text also makes the stakes explicit: if that attack had connected with any other ninja, it would have killed them instantly.
Naruto is returning strong with a new, exciting release on July 9 with a special PUBG collab.
Sasuke Overwhelmed Madara With Speed After Surviving the Sword Strike
- Unique powers: Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, Rinnegan
Sasuke’s first encounter with Madara is described as intense from the start. At that time, Madara recognized Sasuke’s strength and wanted him to join his cause. Sasuke refused, but Madara still allowed him to walk away because he didn’t view Sasuke as a threat yet. That changed on the second meeting: Madara stabbed Sasuke with his own sword.
A normal person would have died from that kind of injury, but the story doesn’t let it happen. After Sasuke is revived and gains the power of the Sage of Six Paths, he becomes far stronger—and the fight turns. Madara ends up on the ropes.
Sasuke’s Rinnegan lets him spot Madara’s Limbo clones, removing one of Madara’s biggest advantages. On top of that, Sasuke’s speed receives a major boost, and he puts it to use decisively. He manages to blitz Madara, who is still portrayed as having impressive speed himself. From that point onward, Madara spends the rest of the confrontation trying to protect himself from Sasuke rather than dictating the pace.
