NBA 2K27 PC Files Hint at NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering Library
PC players digging through the files of NBA 2K27 have reportedly found early signs of NVIDIA’s next upscaling generation. Within the game’s install data, a new DLSS-related library called “nvngx_dlssnr.dll” appears for the first time in a publicly released title—suggesting that DLSS 5’s “Neural Rendering” work may be in the pipeline, though it’s not confirmed to be usable yet.
What was found inside NBA 2K27
The discovery centers on a specific DLL bundled with the game. A community member identified the file as being linked to NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 initiative, which NVIDIA has discussed earlier this year under the heading “Neural Rendering.”
- A new program library named “nvngx_dlssnr.dll” was spotted in NBA 2K27 game files.
- The file is associated with AI post-processing, based on how it appears and is described in the context of NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 work.
- On Windows, the 158 MB file is recognized as “NVIDIA DLSSNR” version 310.8.0.0.
- The “DLSSNR” naming aligns with NVIDIA’s existing internal naming patterns for neural rendering components.
There’s also prior evidence that NVIDIA was experimenting with similar naming conventions before this game discovery. In May, the GeForce driver version 610.47 reportedly included hidden entries referencing items such as “DLSS-NR,” “DLSS-NR Streamline,” and “DLSS-NR Presets.”
DLSSNR appears to be new—and larger than current DLSS pieces
While the driver hints suggested NVIDIA had Neural Rendering-related elements in development, the NBA 2K27 DLL is described as the first publicly discoverable “DLSSNR” runtime component in an already released game.
- Previously, there was no known standalone “DLSSNR” library that players could point to in shipped software.
- Even with the driver-era entries, the related options reportedly couldn’t be forced or validated inside games.
- The NBA 2K27 DLSSNR library is about three times larger than larger builds typically seen for DLSS 4 Super Resolution.
- Current DLSS 4 components are commonly in the 20–50 MB range, while Ray Reconstruction and Frame Generation libraries are said to be smaller.
Is Neural Rendering actually enabled in NBA 2K27?
At the moment, the file’s presence is not the same as proof that DLSS 5 Neural Rendering can be turned on.
- NBA 2K27 does not include a DLSS 5 option.
- The game also does not offer a Neural Rendering toggle or equivalent setting.
- NVIDIA has not publicly announced NBA 2K27 as a DLSS 5-supported title.
- The release window for the broader DLSS 5 upgrade itself has been limited to the autumn of this year.
In other words: players can point to a DLSSNR DLL being shipped with the game, but there’s no current evidence—through exposed settings or confirmed support—that Neural Rendering is actually active in normal gameplay on PC.
