Universal Studios Japan Marks 25 Years With One Piece & Detective Conan Crossover
Universal Studios Japan is gearing up for its 25th anniversary with a new themed crossover featuring two of the biggest names in anime-adjacent fandom: One Piece and Detective Conan. The park has announced a special product line that blends the franchises with classic theme-park settings and film-inspired nods.
Two iconic series, one anniversary lineup
For One Piece, the collaboration artwork shows Monkey D. Luffy inside the park’s Jurassic Park area, facing off against a T-Rex. It’s a mashup built around the idea of pirate bravado colliding with dinosaur-sized chaos—an image made for fans of both the series and Universal’s themed environments.
The Detective Conan collection takes a different approach. One of the set pieces features Conan Edogawa and Dr. Agasa dressed as Marty McFly and Doc Brown, paying tribute to the famous Back to the Future poster.
What’s included in the themed merchandise
Both collaborations will include apparel, but the rest of the items differ by franchise:
- One Piece: a themed T-shirt, plus a bottle and a canvas tote bag
- Detective Conan: a themed T-shirt lineup that also includes a mug and a set of figurines
When it goes on sale in the park
The products will be available starting September 9 at the Studio Style shop inside Universal Studios Japan. Pricing hadn’t been announced at the time of the announcement.
Creators react to the 25th anniversary crossover
The announcement also drew public messages from the original creators. Eiichirō Oda, author of One Piece, expressed gratitude to USJ for its annual live show One Piece Premier as well as for the commemorative collaboration. Gosho Aoyama, creator of Detective Conan, shared a shorter note saying he was excited about the pairing of Detective Conan with Back to the Future.
