Moonlight Peaks Tool Upgrade Guide: Improve Farming Gear and Levels

After you clear your farmland of debris and rubble blocking your route in Moonlight Peaks, you’ll quickly realize you need better materials—and that means upgrading your farming tools along the way. Some tasks also require tool levels beyond the basic Rusty Tools. This guide breaks down how to upgrade your tools in Moonlight Peaks, using the resources you can gather as you expand and keep working on the farm.

Moonlight Peaks has a couple of early progression steps tied to opening up the Barn and obtaining farm animals. To support that push, you’ll need to know exactly where tool upgrades live and what you must buy first.

Tool upgrades are located at the Howling Hammer after you talk to Ridge. Don’t mix up locations: tool upgrade recipes aren’t found at the Workbench. If you want the newest upgrades, make sure you’re speaking with Ridge.

Ridge is a werewolf character you can romance. If you’re looking to pursue that path, you’ll want to check the romance walkthrough for Ridge (plus all romance options in Moonlight Peaks).

To start purchasing upgrades:

  1. Go up to the counter and speak with Ridge.
  2. Choose “I want to buy something”.
  3. Move down two tabs to open the “tools menu”.

From the tools menu, you’ll see every tool upgrade you can currently obtain. Each upgrade has a purchase order requirement: you must buy the previous upgrade before the next one becomes available. After you purchase an upgrade you’re aiming for, it will automatically swap into your Tool Wheel, replacing the older version.

Tool upgrade requirements

Below are the costs and prerequisites for each upgrade tier listed in the tools menu:

  • 1,000 Coin
  • 1 Rusty Tool of the same type
  • 3 Copper Bars
  • 4,000 Coin
  • 1 Copper Tool of the same type
  • 3 Iron Bars
  • 16,000 Coin
  • 1 Iron Tool of the same type
  • 3 Gold Bars
  • 16,000 Coin
  • Fishing Rod
  • 3 Gold Bars

Finally, here’s how the ore progression connects to tool upgrades: the Copper Pickaxe is used to mine Iron Ore, which you can convert into Iron Bars. Then the Iron Pickaxe helps you mine Gold Ore, which you can convert into Gold Bars.
