“Do Not Go Gently…” is the twenty-seventh mission in the main storyline of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it’s also the first step of Sequence 8. With the dream of running a pirate republic now slipping away, Edward turns his attention back to the Observatory. This walkthrough breaks down the mission goals, suggests useful upgrades, and explains a practical approach for handling fights as they come up.
How to Start Do Not Go Gently…
To kick things off, sail from Great Inagua to the map coordinates 929,545, located to the northeast of the hideout.
If you haven’t already, this is a great moment to rebuild the Harbourmaster in Great Inagua for 500 Reales, then spend on Ship Upgrades. For upgrades, I’d prioritize:
- Broadside Cannons II – 2000 Reales and 150 Metal
- Armored Hull II – 400 Reales, 100 Metal, and 200 Wood
- Ram – 500 Reales and 25 Wood
- Heavy Shot – 900 Reales
- Mortar – 800 Reales
- Round and Heated Shot I – 900 Reales
Once you reach the coordinates, you’ll need to remain anonymous to proceed. Clear away any ships that are hovering around the area so you don’t get noticed.
After you link up again with Vane and Thatch, he’ll share some information about The Sage. Then, as something draws Edward’s attention, you’ll need to tail the pirate.
Follow the Pirate
Stay back and shadow the pirate as they head south. Use the boards positioned along the left side of the route to gain height over them, then keep to the tree limbs to see who the pirate ends up meeting.
As the conversation plays out, rely on your vision to locate and tag every guard you can. Once that’s done, your next task is to follow the guards—but there are plenty of soldiers packed into the area, so expect resistance.
Drop down from the branches into the leaves below. You should spot a gap in the gate, and you can use nearby bushes to keep close to the pirate and the surrounding soldiers as they move toward the house.
When the group enters, approach quietly by slipping in through the open doorway, then rotate around to the far side. Near the end of the corridor, you’ll find more bushes that work well as cover.
When you reach the lone soldier near the campfire, move into the room and head up the ramp.
Reach the Signal Flare
From there, you need to cross the area to reach the signal flare. Head toward the northwest edge of the boards, then double assassinate the guards below.
Slip up the stairs, and a cutscene will start. Your job now is to get through the inferno and make it back to the Jackdaw. Jump off the gap in the eastern wall, then sprint along the burning path back to your ship.
Take the wheel and get ready to take down a massive Man O’ War.
- Your pirate allies will be there to assist you
- The Man O’ War will also fight back, and if you can board any smaller ship, do so—those captures can be used to repair the Jackdaw
After you’ve managed to bring it to a stop, you’ll need to board and defeat the British crew. Make sure you use the red barrels to blow up large groups of soldiers, but don’t get reckless—taking out your own crew can ruin the push.
- Use enemy soldiers as human shields to block ranged fire
- Remember you can kick enemies to set up wall takedowns
- Light the cluster of red barrels in the center for a major explosion
- When captains appear, use ranged attacks and quick follow-ups to drop them
When the battle ends, return to the Jackdaw and sail away to open water. Once you’ve put enough distance between yourself and the fight, you’ll head back to Great Inagua, and the mission will be completed.
