Meccha Chameleon Smashes 10M in 3 Weeks, Leads 2026 Sales Race

Meccha Chameleon has turned into one of those rare “everyone’s playing it” releases, with its developers confirming it moved 10 million copies within just its first three weeks. If that alone wasn’t wild enough, industry estimates now point to the game being the top seller of 2026 so far.

Meccha Chameleon Is The Best-Selling Game Of The Year According To Estimates

Sales tracking shared by Rhys Elliot from Alinea Analytics looks at performance from the first half of the year across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. Based on that data, Meccha Chameleon is estimated to have sold 12.6 million units from launch through June 30, placing it at the very top of the year-to-date rankings. It also appears to be a clear lead, with EA Sports FC 26 sitting in second at 9.1 million copies sold.

The next highest title that actually launched during 2026 lands noticeably lower than the top two. Resident Evil Requiem is estimated at 7.5 million copies sold. Forza Horizon 6 follows closely with an estimate of 7.4 million, essentially tied with Arc Raiders, which is still continuing to perform well even as its player base shows a very slow, steady decline. Rounding out the upper group, Slay the Spire 2—another major indie success from 2026—comes in at roughly 7 million copies sold so far, finishing the top six in the current estimates.

Despite Caveats, Meccha Chameleon Is Almost Certainly Still 2026’s Best-Selling Game

Even with the impressive numbers, there are a couple of caveats worth keeping in mind. The biggest one is that Alinea’s figures are estimates rather than direct totals. Still, the reporting is trusted because Alinea has a strong track record of landing extremely close—often right on the mark, or at least near enough to treat the results as effectively accurate for practical purposes. In other words, if the estimate says Meccha Chameleon has passed the 12 million mark, it has almost certainly done so.

That confidence is strengthened by what we already know for certain: the game has sold 10 million copies, and the buzz around it hasn’t faded yet.

The second caveat is more about what’s missing than what’s included. Nintendo platforms aren’t part of the dataset used here. Pokemon Pokopia has been a major system seller on the Switch 2, and if those numbers were folded into the same ranking, it would likely land somewhere within the top six. Even so, despite its popularity, it’s still unlikely that Pokopia has reached the same 12 million-plus level suggested by the estimate for Meccha Chameleon.

Framed this way, Meccha Chameleon’s momentum becomes even more striking. The game is available on only one of the three platforms included in the tracking. Of the other five titles in the estimated top six, three can be played across all three platforms. Forza Horizon 6 shows up on two platforms, and Slay the Spire 2 is the only other game in that group that’s limited to Steam alone.
