Netflix first, then public release
Rockstar has confirmed that Netflix subscribers will be the first group to watch the gameplay reveal. After that initial premiere, the video will also arrive later on YouTube and on Rockstar’s official website.
The broader release is set for a few hours after the Netflix premiere, specifically at 03:00 in Spain (early Friday morning).
Launch date, preorders, and a “Vintage Vice City” bonus
Grand Theft Auto VI is due to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Preorders are already open, and Rockstar says that any orders placed before launch will include the “Vintage Vice City” pack—an in-game bundle intended for long-time fans of the series.
What Rockstar’s team is saying about scale
GTA V producer John Ricchio—also credited with Red Dead Redemption—has shared expectations for the next installment. He pointed out that GTA V’s world was “significantly more” expansive than GTA IV’s, and he’s looking for GTA VI’s map to be “monstrous.” Even if size doesn’t land as the defining feature, Ricchio emphasized that the game should still deliver an unusually high level of detail.
Why this reveal matters
With GTA VI’s gameplay still not publicly shown up to this point, the August 27 reveal is positioned as the moment when Rockstar finally answers the biggest question players have been asking: what the game looks like in motion. The studio’s last comparable big gameplay moment came with GTA V, which was shown in a nearly five-minute stretch—now, fans are waiting for a similar window into the new era of the series.
