Digimon Story: Time Stranger Gets Free July 2026 Patch on Switch

With Digimon Story: Time Stranger arriving on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Bandai Namco has released a free update packed with a few player-requested improvements. The good news for anyone planning a quick install is that the patch doesn’t take up much storage space.

Elsewhere in the anime-adjacent gaming space, an upcoming official Dragon Ball release is also on the horizon—one that will introduce a brand-new Saiyan protagonist who isn’t the usual face many players expect from the franchise.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger adds Graphics Mode settings

  • Terriermon can now perform a new Mode Change, giving players more options when building out their party.
  • The update also brings a new Photo Mode hook during field exploration.

The July 9 update makes the already highly regarded Digimon entry even more flexible, adding a Graphics Mode option to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Switch 2 players also get this setting at launch.

Players can toggle between two display targets:

  • Quality Mode renders at 4K resolution with up to 30 frames per second (FPS).
  • Performance Mode drops the resolution to Full HD (1080p) so you can push up to 60 FPS.

Graphics Mode isn’t offered on the original Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series S. Steam players already had access to graphics customization since launch, so this update is mainly bringing the same kind of control to the newer console versions.

Beyond visuals, the patch expands gameplay options for Terriermon, the long-eared Rookie Digimon. Terriermon can now Mode Change into Terriermon Assistant. Finally, during field exploration, you can access a new Photo Mode.
