Black Ops 2 Tranzit Easter Egg Guide: Richtofen Route Walkthrough

Black Ops 2 Zombies’ Tranzit easter egg has two major routes: Richtofen’s side and Maxis’s side. If your goal is to finish the Richtofen Tranzit easter egg, here’s a step-by-step walkthrough you can follow. We’ll lay out the process in straightforward steps so you can attempt it solo or with friends, whether this is your first run or your hundredth.

The Maxis version of the Tranzit easter egg uses its own set of simple, easy-to-follow requirements designed to help you complete the quest quickly in Black Ops 2 Zombies.

This easter egg is more manageable when you have at least two players, because you’ll be tasked with EMP’ing four lamp posts. If you’re playing on PC, it can also be made easier via Plutonium using the BO2-Full-Solo-Mods setup, where you only need to disable two lamp posts. One more tip: play as Samuel J. Stuhlinger, since he’s the only character who can hear Richtofen’s spoken lines.

Tranzit Maxis Side Easter Egg Steps Overview

  1. Power up.
  2. Construct the Nav Card Table.
  3. Assemble the Jet Gun.
  4. Get EMP grenades and an explosive weapon.
  5. Destroy the Jet Gun at the Nav Card Table.
  6. Earn 25 explosive kills at the pylon.
  7. Use EMP grenades on four lamp posts at the same time.

Step #1: Turn on the Power

You’ll need to ride the bus to the Power Station. The route is: Bus Depot > Diner > Farm > Power Station. When you arrive, open the door in the outhouse to drop into a bright white lab area. In the main chamber, you’ll be picking up three key components: the Hand, the Switch, and the Generator.

Locate all three parts, then build the Power Switch inside the Power Station and activate it. Keep the power running, so feel free to leave the Power Station afterward and move on to the next steps—and if you need Perks, this is a good moment to grab them.

Step #2: Build the Nav Card Table

You must build the Nav Card Reader. There are four parts total, and whenever you collect one, you’ll carry it to the pylon in the Cornfield area, located between the Farm and Power Station. It’s in the fog, on the left side.

115 Meteor

  • Found at the Bus Depot. Leave the main doors, then look toward the zombie barrier just behind the Mystery Box.

Wooden Table

  • Spawn #1: in the tunnel between Bus Depot and the Diner, at the zombie barrier on the right near the Wall-Buy.
  • Spawn #2: underneath Tombstone Soda in the Power Station, at the end of the metal walkway.

Electrical Box

  • Spawn #1: in the Farm’s central house, to the left of the fridge.
  • Spawn #2: in Town, by the dumpster to the right of the Mystery Box spawn.

Radio

  • Spawn #1: on top of a locker in the Diner’s mechanic garage.
  • Spawn #2: in Nacht der Untoten, on a table toward the right. You reach this area by sticking to the right side of the Cornfields between Farm and Power Station.

Step #3: Build the Jet Gun

Next, you’ll need to build the Jet Gun. This weapon has four separate parts, and each one must be carried individually to the crafting location by Stamin-Up in Town.

Jet Engine

The Jet Engine is in the tunnel between the Bus Depot and the Diner:

  • To the right of the M16 wall purchase.
  • To the left, tucked into a corner by a garage door.
  • In the middle area, near a car, before the lava pit.

Handle

The Handle can be found in Nacht der Untoten. To reach it, head right through the Cornfields after Farm:

  • At the back wall, by the shelf.
  • On the stairs near the debris.
  • Next to the lantern on the left.

Wires

The Wires are in the Power Station after you’ve activated the power:

  • On top of an electrical box. You reach it by dropping down the railing.
  • On top of a barrel after you drop down the railing.
  • At the edge of the lava pit.

Pressure Gauge

The Pressure Gauge is located at the Hunter’s Cabin, which is on the left path when traveling from the Power Station to Town:

  • In front of the fireplace.
  • By the metallic bed frame.
  • On a wooden barrel.

Step #4: Acquire EMP Grenades & An Explosive Weapon

You’ll need two items from the Mystery Box: EMP grenades and an explosive weapon (the Ray Gun). Any explosive weapon can work, but the Ray Gun is the recommended option. The quest requires you to kill zombies in a tight area using explosives, and the Ray Gun generally offers strong damage while keeping self-inflicted splash damage to a minimum.

Only one player needs the Ray Gun, but all four players (or just you if you’re solo) must obtain EMP grenades. Getting both items may take some time, so keep spending points at the Mystery Box until you have what you need.

Step #5: Break the Jet Gun at the Nav Card Reader

Once you have the Jet Gun, EMP grenades, and your explosive weapon, return to the Cornfield where you assembled the Nav Card Reader. You’ll need to stand as close as possible to the Nav Card Reader and fire the Jet Gun until it detonates. If you did it correctly, Richtofen will speak to Samuel.

Step #6: Kill 25 Zombies Under the Cornfield Pylon

After Richtofen confirms the Jet Gun step worked, your job is to stand directly under the pylon and secure 25 explosive kills. This objective can be completed with any explosive weapon. However, the Grenade Launcher and RPG are less reliable here, and the splash damage can potentially knock you down—so the safer choice is to keep using the Ray Gun from the Mystery Box until Richtofen speaks again.

Step #7: Deactivate Four Lamp Posts with EMP Grenades

The final portion of Richtofen’s Tranzit easter egg requires everyone to disable the lamp posts using EMP grenades. With four players, it’s simple: each player can go to a lamp post and throw EMP grenades simultaneously. Lamp posts are located at each POI and also appear out in the fog.

If you complete the timing correctly, a blue orb will rise from the lamp post and launch toward the pylon in the Cornfields. That visual confirmation indicates the Richtofen side of the Tranzit easter egg is finished. When you return to the lobby, the Tranzit icon should now be highlighted blue.

If you’re running solo (using the mod), you’ll want to stand at a lamp post and get a denizen to land on your head. Bring the denizen under the lamp post so it triggers a portal. Then throw an EMP at the lamp post, jump into the portal, and immediately throw a second EMP at the new lamp post you arrive at.
