Crimson Desert Exploration Checklist: All Hidden Spots, Loot, and Locations
Exploration is the backbone of progression in Crimson Desert, and the game’s Exploration Challenges are built to reward players who are willing to comb through the wilderness of Pywel. From puzzle rooms and secret find spots to hidden treasure and useful crafting materials, this guide-style checklist pulls everything together so you don’t miss what’s worth hunting.
Checklists
The Exploration Challenges list maps out where to locate every puzzle, hidden area, and other secret content you can only uncover by thoroughly canvassing Pywel’s vast spaces. There are hundreds of discoveries waiting in the world, and most of them pay off with important materials—plus a few valuables that feel like real “you earned it” trophies.
All Crimson Desert Exploration Challenges
Exploration Challenges are organized into nine categories, spanning everything from high-up Abyss content above Pywel to Secret Places tucked into corners you’d never notice at a glance. There are also Ancient Ruins that require puzzle-solving to unlock rewards, along with the other challenge types listed below.
- Restoration: The Abyss
- Wandering Footsteps: Secret Places
- A Threat in the Forest: Ancient Ruins
- Land Meets Sky: Spires
- Wandering Paths: Mazes
Restoration: The Abyss
The Abyss sits high above Pywel, and it’s described as a place tied to ancient forces that shape the world—at least, that’s what it feels like once you’re there. The puzzle areas you’ll need to solve in the Abyss are among Crimson Desert’s tougher challenge zones, and even getting up to them can be a major undertaking.
Wandering Footsteps: Secret Places
Secret Places are exactly what they sound like: hidden locations scattered throughout Crimson Desert’s world. They aren’t usually presented in an obvious way, so you’ll have to look harder than normal to locate them, and even then, you might discover that “finding it” is only the start.
These spots are frequently protected—sometimes by environmental dangers, sometimes by enemies with blades—meaning your search can quickly turn into a test of survival and readiness.
A Thread in the Forest: Ancient Ruins
Across Pywel, there are dozens of forgotten ruins from a previous civilization, and each one is linked to a brain-teasing puzzle. Typically, the rewards you earn for solving them scale with the effort, so even when the puzzles aren’t always brutal, the time investment can still be meaningful.
Land Meets Sky: Spires
There are eight Spires—massive towers that rise into the sky across Pywel. Treat them like puzzle gateways to places you wouldn’t reach any other way: they’re multi-stage challenges designed to keep you solving even more puzzling problems after you think you’ve made progress.
Even if you don’t complete everything, the Spires can still be worth your time, since some are said to hold a small dragon’s hoard of treasure.
Winding Paths: Mazes
The Mazes aren’t the hardest puzzle set you’ll run into in Crimson Desert, but they’re still an important progression route and a source of some of the most distinctive challenges in the game. All of them have been completed, and dedicated guide pages are provided to show you how to tackle them yourself.
