GTA Online’s July Update Might Signal the End Before GTA 6 Launch
For more than a decade, GTA Online has helped fill the gap during the long wait for a true mainline follow-up to GTA 5. In the meantime, Rockstar has also repeated the GTA 5 experience across different re-releases, plus one especially questionable outing that brought the PS2-era GTA trilogy back again. Still, GTA Online has kept players busy for years—and even as development on GTA 6 moves toward the finish line, Rockstar is continuing to support the live service.
With GTA 6 now only a few months away, Rockstar is rolling out a major new addition to GTA Online. The latest update brings a fresh heist, and you’ll be able to jump into it next week.
New GTA Online Heist Launching On July 14
The heist is called The Kortz Center Heist, and Rockstar’s description makes it clear what you’re in for: “Scope out Los Santos’ premier cultural space and pocket prized artworks in The Kortz Center Heist, coming to GTA Online on July 14.”
It continues: “Link up with the mysterious Mr. Faber and his chief fixer Raf De Angelis to take on a blockbuster new Heist—where you’ll meticulously stake out the museum and carefully plot your approach, then snatch the Kortz Center’s most valuable exhibits.”
What You’ll Do in The Kortz Center Heist
As the description suggests, this new job is centered on stealing artwork. After you succeed, you can also show off your haul—displaying the pieces you acquire as trophies.
How Many Players You Need
Whether you prefer to go in alone or coordinate with others, this heist has flexible options. You can run it solo, or team up with a group of up to four players.
Rockstar’s warning is straightforward: bringing more people along should help, so if you can, it’s likely worth calling friends to form a full crew.
Why This Heist Matters Before GTA 6
There’s a strong reason players will want to jump in quickly. Many fans believe this will be the final major GTA Online update before GTA 6 launches on November 19.
That doesn’t mean the live service disappears immediately. The expectation is that there won’t be a redesigned version of GTA Online bundled alongside GTA 6 right away. Instead, updates to the current GTA Online build may slow down as Rockstar shifts focus and “puts a new coat of paint” on what’s next.
Even so, it’s been confirmed that GTA Online will remain fully playable after GTA 6 releases—so you won’t need to say goodbye to the service just yet.
