Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Crouching Guide: When to Stay Hidden
In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, crouching works differently than many players remember from the original Black Flag. Where older stealth setups could drop you into a low stance automatically in hiding areas, this remaster-style release expects you to actively choose when to stay hidden. Here’s the practical rundown on how to crouch, when it helps most, and what the game will keep doing for you after you commit to the stealth posture.
Crouch Controls and When You Can Use Them
To crouch, press the Right Stick on a controller or the C key on keyboard. The action is available anywhere, but it’s especially useful when you want to blend into environments like patches of waist-high plants, or when you’re trying to conceal yourself around corners and behind low cover.
When to Crouch for Stealth (and What Changes)
Crouching is a key tool for tailing enemies, sneaking through restricted areas, and even hunting animals. The game won’t automatically put you in a crouched stance anymore, so you’ll need to time it yourself instead of relying on the environment to “help” at the exact moment you need it.
That said, the game does preserve your crouched state in specific situations. If you start from a crouch and then trigger a parkour move, you automatically remain crouched afterward. In other words: you can crouch, climb over a short wall or drop down from a ledge, and the character will stay in that low posture even after the movement that isn’t strictly stealth.
You can also transition into a crouched position by using movement momentum. If you’re sprinting and press the crouch input, you can slide into a crouched stance, which is handy for quickly going from open movement to concealment.
