Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered: Commodore Eighty-Sixed Walkthrough

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Remastered (or “Resynced” build) has a neat run of assassination work in Sequence 7, and Commodore Eighty-Sixed is the mission you’ll tackle as part of the main story. This walkthrough focuses on how to begin the quest, where to move on the island, and how to handle the guards and the Commodore—plus where to grab key collectibles while you’re there.

Release and mission context

Commodore Eighty-Sixed is identified as the 25th mission in the main storyline and the third mission in Sequence 7. The steps below cover the full assassination flow, including collectible locations and the combat phase against the Commodore.

How to Start Commodore Eighty-Sixed

To kick off the quest, travel to the north of Nassau and head to 592,766 on the beach. Once you’re there, speak with Vane. Your immediate objective is to assassinate the Commodore, so follow the Captain, since he may have the exact location.

For stealth, it helps to use the rooftops to keep yourself hidden until the soldiers shift their attention toward the west.

When the timing is right, drop down and rely on the bushes to stay close as the soldiers advance toward the mansion.

Recommended approach

• Take out the soldier on the scaffolding on the right side when you’re facing the mansion.
• If you get lucky, two more will come running in—remove them one after the other.

• Whether you get the extra arrivals or not, climb up the northern side of the house.
• Loot the chest found on the balcony.

• Reach the top of the house and collect the eagle point.

• From the eagle point, drop down and enter through the open window.

• On the southern side of the room, you can collect the painting (a clue) and open the treasure chest.
• On the western side, read the note on the desk.
• On the northern side, eavesdrop on the conversation at the door.

With the setup confirmed and the game indicating the Commodore isn’t at the house, you’ll need to move away. Your next stop is the beach: head southeast of the island to 601,748.

Once you reach the beach, start from the southern end of the camp:

• You can sneak up and assassinate the three guards here.
• Wait for one guard to move close—assassinate him, then take down the guard who is sitting, and finish by quickly following up on the third.

• Loot the chest before you head north.
• Find a bush to hide in and whistle.

• Move quickly and quietly toward the tent.
• Assassinate the guard close to it.
• Then sneak in and assassinate the Commodore.

After you land the kill, the fight may still require you to break his stance first—if you need to, quick-draw your weapon and fire at him. He uses a mix of attacks: some are red and must be dodged, while others are blue and can be parried.

When the Commodore is down, a cutscene plays and you’re moved to the beach near the Jackdaw. Follow Vane and get aboard your ship. Before you push the next objective, you’ll need to take control of the wheel of the Jackdaw.
