SAND: Raiders of Sophie Update 2 Arrives July 3 With QoL, Balance, Fixes
Update 2 for SAND: Raiders of Sophie has arrived on July 3, 2026, bringing a mix of bug fixes, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life tweaks. The patch is aimed at smoothing out server stability, tightening up combat interactions, and ironing out a variety of mission and movement problems players have been reporting. Here are the full patch notes, plus the known issues and the guide links that were highlighted alongside the update.
SAND: Raiders of Sophie Patch Notes July 3: Update 2
To start, the update addresses a server availability problem that could leave players stuck on a “Connecting” screen. Because of that malfunction, the team rolled back the previous day’s update, so this fix is part of restoring reliable access while preventing the same hang from returning. Players are also encouraged to report whether the “Connecting” issue still shows up after the patch.
- Improved BattlEye behavior to reduce false-positive bans.
- Occlusion adjustments that provide a minor performance benefit.
- Additional improvements to character movement.
- Improvements to trampler collisions.
- Fewer shakes and glitches during collisions involving tramplers.
- Potential fix for a case where a character could be launched into the air after colliding with tramplers.
- Potential fix for a situation where trampler components were invisible, even though players could still interact with them.
- Fixed oversaturated boxes and props in the lobby.
- Fixed an issue where trampler stability did not affect speed.
- Fixed the energy rod selling price on contract platforms, correcting it from 450 to 50.
- Fixed an issue where a character’s body could remain in the air after death.
- Fixed an exploit that allowed extra shots from an autocannon by pressing the right mouse button.
- Another round of character controller improvements, including:
- Fixed getting stuck on difficult terrain.
- Fixed multiple parkour-related issues.
- Fixed various movement problems.
- Fixed flickering names on the landing cutscene.
- Improved hit registration.
- Improved occlusion for trampler compartments.
- Noted that some compartment occlusion cases may still occur, with fixes planned for upcoming updates.
- Grenade pins no longer pull automatically under Outlaw controls.
- Upiors received behavior improvements:
- They now have collision with players.
- Their movement is less twitchy.
- Overall behavior is more responsive and more natural.
- Upiors can now use cannons (excluding shotguns).
- They will leave the cannon when the player gets close.
- Added a gas giant next to Sophie.
- Improved design for some pop-ups.
- Fixed an issue in some crew compartments where a character could respawn outside the compartment.
- Fixed item duplication exploits.
- Fixed doors restoring improperly after repairing a compartment with a Repair kit.
- Fixed a visual issue where a door would still appear broken after being fixed with a repair kit.
- Fixed a problem where the expedition could end for the player even though teammates were still alive, which also caused loot delivery issues after the expedition.
- Fixed an issue where players could enter compartments by sliding on the entrance group ladder.
- Fixed cases where the Toggle and Combine Sprint settings weren’t working as intended.
- Fixed matchmaking preferences not being saved between expeditions.
- Fixed incorrect crew sizes being displayed during loading.
The update also reiterates that, due to the earlier “Connecting”/server availability issue, the previous day’s update was reverted, and it asks players to let the team know if the problem persists after installing this patch.
In the latter part of the notes, the same movement and trampler-related items are restated as part of the overall fixes included in Update 2, including the difficult terrain and parkour corrections, the flickering landing names, improved hit registration, and the continued note that some compartment occlusion edge cases may still appear until future updates land.
Further confirmation is included for the Upior behavior changes: they now collide with players, their motion is less erratic, their actions should feel more responsive and natural, and they can use cannons (except shotguns), leaving the cannon when the player approaches.
Balance Changes
Update 2 also tweaks several weapons, ammunition stats, and selling values. The changes focus on recoil and reload tuning for certain cannon setups, range and projectile behavior for multiple ammo types, and small economy adjustments for items and resources.
- Increased recoil for 80mm cannons.
- Increased T3 80mm cannon reload time from 2.5 seconds to 3 seconds.
- Base and low recoil 40mm ammo now has improved range: 150m/s to 200m/s, and 100m/s to 150m/s.
- Regular 70mm ammo now fires more projectiles, increasing from 42 to 52.
- Reduced siege damage of regular 70mm ammo by 20%, changing from 30 per pellet to 25 per pellet.
- Added 5 additional meters before damage begins to decay for regular 70mm ammo, shifting from 35m to 40m.
- Decreased the fire rate of the Triple Barrel shotgun by 30%.
- Reduced the projectile amplifier radius from 15m to 5m.
- Updated how turret ammunition works when loading manually from a container: it now transfers shells into the turret inventory rather than performing an actual load action. The notes thank a community tipster named “Peanut,” and clarify that the feature is now labeled “Transfer Content” instead of “Load Turret” to avoid confusion.
- Loot containers will spawn slightly fewer pneumatic parts.
- Increased the sell price of Canned Sea Deer XL from 100 to 500.
- Decreased the sell price of MedKit from 50 to 20.
- Increased sell prices for Small Valuables and Valuables by 1 crown: 3 to 4, and 6 to 7.
- Adjusted Ironclad Crate slot configuration, changing 12M to 1L and 11M.
- Raised high-tier resources orbital stack size from 50 to 75.
Known Issues
Even with the fixes included in Update 2, several issues remain on the radar:
- Characters can become stuck at the top of a ladder.
- In some circumstances, a character may appear transparent while using Spectator mode.
- Characters cannot crouch while carrying a Repair Kit.
- A character cannot enter the expedition if the Invite was accepted at the Tutorial pop-up background.
- A character may become invulnerable to melee damage while interacting with turrets or the steering wheel.
