Yum Yum Yoshi Toy Gets a Stretchy Tongue That Picks Up Fruit

Nintendo has unveiled another Yoshi toy planned for this summer, and this one is spreading online even faster than the other Yoshi-themed releases we’ve seen so far this year. The reason is simple: this new toy includes an extendable tongue designed to mimic the dinosaur’s signature move from Nintendo’s games.

Introducing Yum Yum Yoshi

The toy is called Yum Yum Yoshi, and Nintendo’s latest reveal came with a demo video showing how it works and what it can do. To bring the tongue out, you first push it forward, then tilt Yoshi’s head back. After that, the tongue pops from Yoshi’s mouth, and if your aim is on point, it will grab the fruit included in the box.

Even though the product is clearly aimed at kids, the announcement still sparked a wide range of reactions—from mildly odd to genuinely unsettling. The internet will be the internet, and people have already been saying all sorts of things. If you spend less time doomscrolling than most, you’ll probably be fine—though, if you’re curious, you can probably guess the general vibe.

Yum Yum Yoshi Release Date And Price

UK retailer Smyths Toys lists Yum Yum Yoshi as releasing on July 23, 2026, with pre-orders available now. The price is set at £29.99 on Smyths’ site, which likely translates to roughly $40 in the US. For a toy with this level of interaction, that price is lower than some may have expected.

Nintendo hasn’t officially labeled 2026 as the “Year of Yoshi,” but the company’s attention has clearly been heavily focused on its Mario sidekick dinosaur. Yoshi entered the Mario movie universe through The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, then received a new game with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and now this marks the third notable Yoshi toy release already scheduled for this year.

So far, the first major Yoshi toy of the year was an egg you can crack to let Yoshi emerge. The second was also egg-themed, and while it wasn’t exactly a traditional toy, it was still a notable tie-in: a popcorn bucket Nintendo bundled with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. That bucket was built to hold a lot of popcorn—unlike Bowser’s famously tiny cauldron-style container.
