After the Esperia Kingdom flashback wrapped up in One Piece chapter 1186 on June 28, 2026, the series officially pivoted into its core fighting phase—centered on Monkey D. Luffy and the two Straw Hat “wings” behind him, Roronoa Zoro and Vinsmoke Sanji. For Sanji in particular, Eiichiro Oda has set up a direct matchup against Saint Killingham, a threat boosted by an Omen-based power linked to Nerona Imu’s “Akuma no Mi” abilities.

Eiichiro Oda Upgrades Sanji With Ifrit in Elbaf’s Climax

This demonic presence is frequently associated with the Underworld, and it’s often compared to jinn in broader discussions. That connection lands directly with Sanji. Because Ifrit Jambe produces blue flames when he uses it, the story is effectively tying Sanji’s output to the Demon God’s power itself rather than treating it as a purely technical upgrade.

Sanji Might Unleash Nerona Imu’s Black Flames After Conqueror’s Awakening

One Piece has also introduced its own Demon God angle through Nerona Imu. In chapter 1179, released April 6, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #19, Imu—the King of the World—was shown with the “Akuma no Mi,” also referred to as “The Devil’s Fruit.” This power lets Imu transform into a giant winged demon with horns.
