Xbox Game Pass Welcomes Corridor Shooter Tamashika in July 2026 Update

Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now jump into Tamashika as part of their membership, with the oddball corridor shooter arriving alongside one other Premium-tier add-on. The move marks the second fresh Xbox Game Pass release for July 2026 and brings the total to 110 new titles added since the year began.

It’s the first new game for July 2026, but the wait has been longer than usual. That said, the rest of the month is expected to move faster from here.

Tamashika: corridor shooter with psychedelic flair

Built by Hong Kong-based indie team Quicktequila, Tamashika is a fast, first-person corridor shooter that leans heavily into psychedelic visuals. The core gameplay loop draws comparisons to the kidnapping-style missions from Far Cry 5: you’re trying to escape while battling incoming waves of enemies that may or may not be real.

The game’s Xbox and Steam storefront pages also include references to transformers—an artificial neural network architecture. Among the citations is the 2017 Google research paper “Attention Is All You Need,” which helped spark much of the modern large language model boom. However, this doesn’t look like an actual AI feature reveal: Tamashika does not include any AI-related disclosure on Steam.

Coming to Xbox Game Pass on multiple tiers

Only three months after Tamashika launched in April 2026, the shooter is now available on Xbox Game Pass. It goes live on July 9, and because it isn’t a day-one addition, it’s included across every non-Essential tier: Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass.

Based on how it’s been received, it should add some variety to the service’s FPS lineup. On OpenCritic it carries a “Strong” rating, and on Steam it has 75% positive user feedback.

Gears of War: Reloaded joins Premium after an 11-month gap

Alongside Quicktequila’s release, the July 9 update for higher tiers also includes Gears of War: Reloaded. This remaster of the first Gears of War game is now available to Premium subscribers.

Gears of War: Reloaded first appeared on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate as a day-one title in late August 2025, so this Premium expansion comes roughly 11 months later.

Xbox Game Pass July 2026 release calendar

The July 2026 lineup continues in the days ahead, with dates rolling in across Cloud, Handheld, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

  • Cloud, Handheld, PC, Series X/S: Available as part of the next scheduled additions.
  • Higher tiers since Aug 2025: Gears of War: Reloaded availability has been expanding to new tiers over time.
  • Quarantine Zone: The Last Check: Day-one release on Series X/S.
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2: Scheduled to join the service during the final third of the month.
  • Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy: Included in the July 2026 plans.

Microsoft’s confirmed mid-month schedule starts with Ascend to Zero, a futuristic roguelite that’s set for July 13. The very next day, PBA Pro Bowling 2026 follows on July 14, and then the zombie apocalypse simulator Quarantine Zone: The Last Check arrives on July 15.

For the second half of July 2026, Microsoft has already locked in Fogpiercer, FixForce, and The Planet Crafter. Then, as the month moves into its final third, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 and Halo: Campaign Evolved are also set to come to Xbox Game Pass.
