Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Gets Instant Demo on PS5, Switch, and PC
Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment have released a playable preview for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, making a demo available immediately on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam. The studios have also put out the game’s opening movie alongside the trial, giving players a first look at how the sequel kicks off before its worldwide release in September.
The demo spans the same overall stretch of content as last year’s Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter trial, covering everything from the prologue through the first chapter. Progress made during this limited window can be carried over into the full game when it launches.
There’s also a platform-specific note for Nintendo players: the Switch version of the demo is compatible with Switch 2. That means players can try the title on whichever console they have available ahead of the dedicated Switch 2 release. Falcom and GungHo also clarify that there isn’t a separate demo version specifically for Switch 2.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is scheduled for a worldwide launch on September 17 for PS5, Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam.
Localization update lands for the first remake
With the sequel’s demo now live, Falcom and GungHo have also pushed an update for the earlier remake. They released version 1.07 of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, part of the “Legacy Patch” initiative shared in recent days. This update focuses on refining terminology and adjusting certain dubbed lines so the remake’s wording better matches the vocabulary used in later entries in the series.
The development team says it aimed to strike a balance between maintaining series consistency and preserving the experience for players who first met the saga through this remake. While the changes apply broadly to localization, the biggest adjustments are for the English version; French received only small coherence tweaks in comparison.
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter arrives in a little under a month on PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
