The Duskbloods Release Date Uncertain After Nintendo Switch Launch Confusion
FromSoftware’s first-ever PvPvE project, The Duskbloods, is having its release date shaken—after an initial report placed it on the same day as multiple major launches on Nintendo’s next Switch model. The timeline is now in question following a denial from Nintendo and a correction from The Guardian, leaving the 24 September slot uncertain.
The original claim centered on The Duskbloods launching on 24 September 2026 as a headline Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. If that date truly held, it would have landed the studio’s new multiplayer-leaning action concept in one of the busiest stretches of the year, with several heavyweight games sharing the same window.
Looking at the wider schedule, September 2026 is already packed even before factoring in The Duskbloods. Releases are set for 3 September with The Blood of Dawnwalker, followed by Onimusha: Way of the Sword on 4 September. Mid-month includes Marvel’s Wolverine on 15 September and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave on 17 September. Then the calendar tightens sharply around 24 September, where Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall are both scheduled, alongside the previously reported The Duskbloods date. Finally, EA Sports FC 27 arrives on 25 September, placing even more pressure on anything launching at the start of that final stretch.
Even with the competitive lineup in mind, the key question for The Duskbloods is how players would split attention and time—especially given the specific week leading into the alleged launch day. With Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave releasing just a week earlier, the assumption is that many Switch 2 players could still be deep into that game’s playtime when The Duskbloods would have arrived. That’s compounded by the idea that early-month releases like The Blood of Dawnwalker and the new Onimusha—described as the first completely new entry in more than two decades—may leave players carrying a backlog of completed and ongoing sessions into late September.
There’s also the immediate collision on the same day, if the date holds: Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall were both reported for 24 September as well. While the titles are described as very different experiences, the overlap comes from how audiences choose what to play next, meaning interest in one release can pull time and money away from another.
In practical terms, the decision to place The Duskbloods on 24 September would be particularly risky for a title that’s not positioned as a traditional FromSoftware launch by platform or approach—plus it wouldn’t automatically benefit from the usual first-wave sales that the studio’s most dedicated fans might generate. With Nintendo now denying the information and The Guardian correcting its earlier publication, The Duskbloods release date remains unclear, and whether it can cut through a month already considered unusually stacked now depends on what replaces that disputed timeline.
