SAND: Raiders of Sophie Locked Boxes Guide—Find Keys and Unlock Quickly

Locked Boxes are one of the quickest routes to snag valuables, higher-tier crafting materials, and weapons in SAND: Raiders of Sophie—but getting the box open requires more than just finding one and interacting.

To open them, you’ll need specific keys that are placed around the world. This guide breaks down where to locate those keys and how to unlock locked weapon, item, and resource boxes once you have the right key in hand.

Along the way, you’ll also run into sealed containers connected to a Radio Beacon at various landmarks in Sand: Raiders of Sophie. Here’s what to do when you find them and where you should take them to be delivered.

Where To Find Keys to Open Locked Boxes in SAND: Raiders of Sophie

In SAND: Raiders of Sophie, keys come from two main sources:

  • They’re scattered across larger POIs like Forts and Towns.
  • You can also obtain keys from loot boxes hidden inside Suspicious Piles of Sand.
  • Some keys are dropped by Elite NPCs and Corrupted Human enemies.

Once you manage to get a Key, you can open any Locked Box. In practice, there are three categories of boxes: Locked Utility Boxes, Locked Valuable Boxes, and Locked Weapon Boxes.

Each type uses a distinct color scheme. Valuable boxes are grey, utility boxes are yellow, and weapon boxes are copper. You’ll most often find them in Shipwrecks, though there’s still a chance to encounter them in Forts and other POIs.

Here’s the approach for opening the red doors in Sand: Raiders of Sophie. These entrances show up across different landmarks (POIs) on the map.

Locked Boxes can be carried just like any other box in the game, and then deposited over the Trampler for transport. The important limitation is that unless you open the boxes before the end of the match (the Extraction phase), you won’t be able to retrieve the valuables after you exit the open world.

That’s why your only realistic path to that loot is to explore thoroughly and secure keys. Because the game is designed as PvEvP, there’s also the possibility of taking those keys away from other players—either from their tramplers or by looting them from bodies after you manage to defeat them.

With so much risk around valuable drops, staying sharp in SAND: Raiders of Sophie matters—because you can’t assume your loot is safe just because you found it first.
