Original novel and prior adaptations
The anime is based on the novel Red Riding Hood: A Detective Story by Aito Aoyagi, published by Futabasha. The book launched in August 2020 and has already received multiple adaptations.
- Manga adaptation: Illustrated by Tanakanoka, it totals five volumes. It began in January 2023 in Futabasha’s Monthly Action magazine, then moved to the Web Action website in April 2024.
- Live-action film: Once Upon a Crime released in 2023 and is available to stream on Netflix.
