Raphinha Hat-Trick Powers Barcelona to 7-2 Win Over Racing Santander
Raphinha took home the match ball after scoring three times in Barcelona’s 7-2 victory over Racing Santander, a result that maintained the club’s powerful early-season run under Hansi Flick.
The Brazilian forward has now reached nine La Liga goals for the campaign. While pleased with both his hat-trick and the scale of the win, Raphinha said he remains determined to raise his level further and believes he can still contribute more to the side.
“It is always important to feel there is something to improve,” he said. “I will never say that I am doing well or that I am at my best. I always try to improve everything possible. I can give the team more than I am giving at the moment. I am happy with the goals and the win, which is the most important thing.”
Central role and Flick’s influence
Raphinha has also spoken of his comfort in a central attacking position when Barcelona’s collective play is working properly. The 7-2 scoreline reflected a side continuing to create heavily and attack with confidence.
He credited Flick with making a major difference to his mentality and belief since the German took charge. Barcelona’s momentum has been built on a willingness to keep pressing for goals even when matches appear under control.
Raphinha said the squad’s positioning has helped turn that approach into chances, adding that Barcelona have the mentality required to remain among Europe’s leading teams.
“Whenever we can, we have to look for more goals and create more chances, and that can be seen on the pitch,” he said. “We are much better positioned to score, and that is why we have everything needed to be at the top.”
Penalty handed to Yamal
One moment in the first half underlined Raphinha’s focus on the group rather than his own scoring numbers. He allowed Lamine Yamal to take a penalty, believing the younger forward needed the opportunity at that stage of the game.
Yamal did not convert, but Raphinha insisted the miss would not change his support for his teammate. He also included Karim and Anthony when discussing the importance of helping fellow attackers find goals.
“I felt Lamine needed it in that first half,” Raphinha said. “He missed it, but that is fine. I can miss as well; it is normal. Whenever I have the chance, I will try to help him—not only him, but Karim and Anthony too. I know better than anyone that a striker needs to score.”
