Barcelona Set New Club Record With Seven Straight Wins Under Hansi Flick

Barcelona have opened the season with seven wins from seven under Hansi Flick, setting a new club record after a 7-2 home victory over Racing Santander. The result took the Catalan side beyond the previous best start of six consecutive victories, achieved in 1929/30, 1960/61 and 2018/19.

Flick pleased with performance and points

Flick welcomed both the scoreline and the level of his side’s display after the final whistle, while stressing that Racing had posed a demanding challenge.

“I liked our football and the three points,” Flick said. “We are happy, but Racing are not an easy opponent to face.”

The German coach said the early run has provided confidence, though he warned that the value of a strong start will be judged by where Barcelona finish the campaign. He highlighted the collective intensity shown by his players, particularly their willingness to press and contribute defensively.

“Starting well is positive, but the important thing is the end of the season,” he said. “It gives confidence. I like the intensity and the momentum; everybody presses and everybody contributes. The way we work together is essential.”

Adeyemi continuing his adaptation

Karim Adeyemi also received praise from Flick following the Racing Santander match. The forward is still settling into Barcelona’s tactical approach after his arrival, but the coach believes his speed and commitment are already giving the side an important dimension.

Flick said Adeyemi still has room to develop and must continue adapting to the team’s style, but added that the player had shown what he can offer. He described the forward as an enjoyable player to work with, a good character and someone who gives everything on the pitch.

“His pace is incredible,” Flick said of his compatriot.

Sevilla away next for Barcelona

Barcelona will now look to carry their record start into another difficult domestic fixture. Flick’s side travel to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium to play Sevilla on Saturday, with an eighth successive victory the immediate target.
