PlayStation Plus July 2026 Games Guide: MW3 2023 + PS5

Sony has officially revealed the PlayStation Plus monthly games for July 2026, and one of the biggest additions is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

To be clear, this is the Modern Warfare that arrived in 2023, not the earlier 2011 release. That newer entry struggled with both players and reviewers, with the story campaign drawing some of the harshest criticism. It also landed just a year after 2022’s Modern Warfare 2—part of Activision’s once-annual release approach, which the publisher has since said it will stop continuing.

Modern Warfare 3’s campaign review was scored at 4/10, with the campaign described as “underbaked, rehashed, and cobbled together from multiplayer parts.” Even so, adding it to the service schedule makes sense for the timing: it gives subscribers a chance to run through the campaign ahead of this year’s Modern Warfare 4, which is set to release on October 23.

Alongside Modern Warfare 3, two additional titles are also being added to the July monthly lineup. All three games will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers starting next Tuesday, July 7, and running through Monday, August 3.

First is For the King 2, a tactical role-playing sequel that launched on PC in 2023 and was generally received positively. Still, it earned a mixed 6/10 review score from IGN. The game takes inspiration from tabletop-style skirmishes, mixes in roguelite mechanics, and uses a procedurally generated map as you explore—while you work to hunt down an evil queen.

Rounding out the set is CrossCode, a retro-styled 2D action JRPG. It leans on 16-bit-era presentation while combining classic dungeon exploration with RPG-style combat and loot collection.
