No Rest for the Wicked Delayed to March 2027 for PS5 and Steam Launch
No Rest for the Wicked has been delayed again: Moon Studios is pushing the game’s full launch from the next month to March 2027, with a release on Steam and PlayStation 5. The studio cites the need for more polish after a long early-access runway—nearly three years on PC.
Background: early access that kept expanding
The action-RPG first arrived in Steam Early Access on April 18, 2024. Since then, Moon Studios has released updates, but the team says the current state still hasn’t reached the finishing level it wants for a true 1.0 release.
- April 18, 2024: No Rest for the Wicked launches in Steam Early Access.
- 2024–2026: The game receives multiple updates, but Moon Studios says it hasn’t yet hit the quality target planned for an upcoming launch.
- December 2026: An open beta is planned.
- March 2027: The game will move to version 1.0 on Steam and make its debut on PlayStation 5.
- After March 2027: Xbox Series and Switch 2 versions are still planned, but with a later release date.
What happened: new testing timeline and a March 2027 1.0
Moon Studios announced that the “final stretch” is now longer than expected. Instead of a launch next month, the studio is scheduling additional closed tests in the coming months, followed by an open beta in December 2026.
Then, after almost three years of early access, the studio will bring the game to its 1.0 version in March 2027 on Steam, with PlayStation 5 as its console debut. Xbox Series and Switch 2 releases remain on the roadmap, but they’re confirmed only for a later date.
Reaction: the studio explains why it’s holding the line on quality
Moon Studios’ leadership framed the delay as a quality-control decision. CEO and director Thomas Mahler said the team is small and has non-negotiable standards for its games. He added that while the project is “almost” there, the studio doesn’t consider “almost” good enough for a full 1.0 launch. The extra time will be used to improve performance, refine the class system, and further polish the overall game to reach the quality players “deserve.”
