NTE 999 Nights Guide: Unlock and Break the Mysteriously Sealed Crystal

In NTE 999 Nights, you’ll need to clear the right progression gate to reach Challenge difficulty and break the “crystal sealed by a mysterious power.” Once you do, you can dive into every hidden nook inside Chocolate Volcano, Milk Ice Mountain, Amber Sugar Lake, and Crimson Castle—think of that crystal like a locked door that only opens after you meet the story requirements. Along the way, you can also sell collectibles and equipment to earn Warren Gold Coins, or spend those coins on other activities.

How to remove the mysterious power crystal in NTE 999 Nights

To remove the crystal sealed by a mysterious power, complete the Story difficulty in NTE 999 Nights. After that, the game unlocks Challenge difficulty, letting you re-enter the 999 Nights areas and explore them more thoroughly.

Clearing Story difficulty means completing the exploration objectives for Chocolate Volcano, Milk Ice Mountain, Amber Sugar Lake, and Crimson Castle while traveling with Iroi, Mint, and Shinku in NTE. Each area has a minimum level requirement for Story difficulty:

  • Chocolate Volcano: no requirement
  • Milk Ice Mountain: level 15
  • Amber Sugar Lake: level 25
  • Crimson Castle: level 30

In Challenge difficulty, you can enter every area regardless of your level, but the game recommends you aim around these levels for smoother runs:

  • Chocolate Volcano: no requirement
  • Milk Ice Mountain: level 60
  • Amber Sugar Lake: level 75
  • Crimson Castle: level 90

How to unlock 999 Nights Challenge difficulty

Challenge difficulty in NTE 999 Nights becomes available immediately after Story mode ends, and it appears before the Nightmare tier.

That also means you’ll need to experience Shinku’s story after you locate the Severed Tail of the Gold Dragon during the main quest. The quest sequence enables Shinku to meet her other self and understand how to accept existing together rather than being separated.

After that, you’ll move on to the next requirement: defeat the Crimson Dragon using the current fixed NTE team to finish the Episode and unlock the 999 Nights Challenge difficulty.

Keep in mind that the road to the final boss is packed with enemies of many types, plus mini-boss encounters such as the Scroll-Leaf Scorpion and the Frostspike Dragon.
