New Harry Potter Game Arrives This Month—More Wizarding Adventures Ahead
Harry Potter fans have fresh wizarding adventures on the way this month. Ever since the franchise surged into mainstream pop culture in the early 2000s, Harry Potter has spawned a steady stream of video games—spanning movie-based adaptations, book-based adaptations, and even original stories set in the wider wizarding world. One of the biggest recent milestones was 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy, which arrived to strong reception and record-breaking sales, ultimately becoming the top-selling game of the year.
As players wait for word about what comes next with a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, many are looking back to ongoing Harry Potter titles that are still getting support. Chief among them is Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. It may not dominate headlines the way it once did, but it continues to roll out meaningful updates—enough to make it worth revisiting, whether you’re returning for new content or finally downloading it for the first time.
In a recent interview, a developer behind Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery talked through how the game has evolved since launch and how its direction has shifted over time.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Brings Back Sorcerer’s Stone-Themed Event and More
Right now, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has reinstated its Summer of Mystery event. The event is built around Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, covering Harry’s earliest days at Hogwarts. During this run, players can take on the School of Witchcraft & Wizardry Mini Hogwarts Diary Mini Event, and they can also dive into a scavenger hunt that introduces something new to uncover each day. Those daily finds are tied to hints shared through social media, so checking the game’s community channels becomes part of the routine.
Summer of Mystery is back as part of the franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration, and it’s only the start—Jam City has additional events planned for the mobile game across July.

Starting July 8, Harry Potter players can join a three-week Community Challenge focused on House Points. The goal is simple: earn as many points as you can during the event window. Then, on July 29, the Norbert’s Transport Beyond Special Preview goes live inside the game.
Jam City says there will be even more new Hogwarts Mystery adventures arriving during July, with three additional updates expected later in the month. Exact timing and detailed descriptions haven’t been revealed yet, but the teasers point to distinct themes. One new storyline is said to “challenge the boundaries between the Wizarding and Muggle worlds.” Another is centered on “helping a beloved Hogwarts professor prepare for a new school year.” The third promises a “thrilling dragon-filled journey.”
If you’re also planning ahead for bigger Harry Potter media moments, there’s more on the way later this year. The first season of the Harry Potter HBO series is slated to premiere on December 25, and it will adapt the first book.
Jam City’s final stretch for Hogwarts Mystery in July arrives during the last week of the month. From July 24 through July 31, the game will host the 25 Years of Magic Sweepstakes. Players can earn prizes from HarryPotter.com by logging in to the mobile title during that period. The sweepstakes ends on July 31 specifically because that date is Harry Potter’s birthday.

For players who can’t get enough of Hogwarts Mystery’s characters and storylines, there’s another major update being teased for September 1. In the Harry Potter setting, September 1 marks the beginning of the Hogwarts school year, so the timing suggests the game will be shifting into a new academic chapter with fresh developments.
