MobLand Season 2 Trailer Reveals Paramount+ Release Date and Tom Hardy’s Return
MobLand is gearing up for another round of family-fueled crime politics, and the series has released a debut trailer alongside a confirmed launch date for Season 2. The new footage offers an early look at Tom Hardy’s Harry Da Souza, picking up after the events of the first season.
MobLand Season 2 release window and where to watch
| Season | Release date | Platform |
|---|---|---|
| Season 2 | September 18 | Paramount+ |
Season 2 will arrive on Paramount+ on September 18. The trailer paints the Harrigan family as being pulled toward open conflict, with rising tensions threatening to turn their criminal power structure into a full-on civil war. It also appears to lean into the long-running questions surrounding Hardy’s involvement with the show. The trailer opens with Hardy—known to many for roles in The Dark Knight Rises and Venom—speaking to a terrified captive, saying, “this hasn’t exactly been a wonderful 24 hours for me, yeah? I’m under a lot of pressure.”
“You call it chaos. We call it family. #MobLand returns September 18 on @ParamountPlus.”
The rollout comes after months of behind-the-scenes reporting that suggested Hardy’s future with MobLand was uncertain. Earlier in May, industry reporting said Hardy had not been brought back following alleged disagreements on set involving producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser, through their 101 Studios banner, along with other people connected to the series. One report claimed Hardy was often late to filming, attempted to revise dialogue, and became frustrated as the show’s creative direction shifted toward a broader ensemble approach. It was also noted that when Butterworth reportedly threatened to step away, Paramount allegedly appeared more willing to move on from Hardy than to keep him.
That same reporting later clarified that Hardy wasn’t fired outright. Instead, his status was described as being “in limbo,” leaving the question of whether he would return for future seasons unresolved.
Now, more recent coverage has said Hardy’s situation for MobLand Season 3—described as likely—is still not officially settled. The implication is that, even if Season 3 is on the way, the decision about Hardy’s role has yet to be formally confirmed. If Season 3 does get approved, production is expected to begin later this year, with the remaining question being whether Hardy will be part of that next chapter.
Variety, however, believes Hardy will come back. It pointed to a recent London meeting between Hardy and senior figures from the series, describing it as a turning point that led to a resolution and ultimately his return.
Here’s the official description for MobLand Season 2: “In Season 2 of the Paramount+ original series MobLand, the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.”
