Hello Kitty Island Adventure: How to Start Fun with Flavors Quest

Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s City Town quest chain continues with a food-focused task called “Fun with Flavors,” centered on a Quest for the Sashimi Spire. The quest becomes available after you finish “Bonus Stage” and upgrade the Spire by feeding it 80 Nigiri—made at the Imagination Cafe. Once the upgrade is done, you start “Fun with Flavors” by talking to Usahana in the City Center of City Town.

Checklists

Before you begin, here’s the full checklist of what you’ll be making and upgrading as part of this quest line:

  • Make Dango For Kirimi-chan
  • Make Pudding For Kirimi-chan
  • Make Soda For Kirimi-chan
  • Make Pizza For Kirimi-chan
  • Make Coffee and Cake for Kirimi-chan
  • Upgrade the Sashimi Spire
  • Quest / Upgrade Rewards

Make Dango For Kirimi-chan

When you speak to Usahana, she instantly bolts, claiming she needs to catch up with Kirimi-chan. Your next step is to meet Usahana and Kirimi-chan directly in front of the Imagination Cafe in City Town, then talk to both of them there. Kirimi-chan says she wants to taste something new, but Usahana admits she has already tried everything the Cafe recipes offer.

Pompompurin appears and pushes Kirimi-chan toward experimentation—specifically, mixing flavors. Kirimi-chan is into the idea and asks for an Egg Chocolate Sakura Dango, and Pompompurin decides he wants one too.

Go to the Imagination Cafe’s Chef’s Station and prepare Egg Chocolate Sakura Dango x 2 using the following:

  • Stick x 2 – found in the Seaside Resort, Gemstone Mountain, and Snow Village; obtained when catching Clamfish
  • Rice Flour x 6 – made at Chef’s Station using Rice, as Usahana’s return gift
  • Egg x 2 – won by playing the “Rockadoodler Round-up” mini-game
  • Chocolate Coin x 2 – found in and around the Shipwreck in Rainbow Reef
  • Sakura x 2 – picked from trees in Merry Meadow

Gift one Dango each to Pompompurin and Kirimi-chan. Kirimi-chan is thrilled by the chance to explore more Dango flavors, but Usahana gets overwhelmed by how many combinations she wants to test. Pompompurin suggests switching plans and invites her to the Dessert Boat instead.

Make Pudding, Soda, and Pizza

Make Pudding For Kirimi-chan

Head to the Dessert Boat in Gemstone Mountain’s Oasis and talk to Pompompurin and Kirimi-chan there. Kirimi-chan decides to go with Pompompurin’s classic recipe, Mama’s Pudding, which requires:

  • Cactus Cream x 1 – found in Gemstone Mountain
  • Banana x 1 – Pompompurin’s return gift
  • Coral Milk x 1 – found in Rainbow Reef

Give Mama’s Pudding to Kirimi-chan, who—predictably—loves it. She immediately wants something to wash it down with, so the next stop is the Soda Machine.

Make Soda for Kirimi-chan

Meet Kirimi-chan at the Soda Machine in Gemstone Mountain’s Gemstone Town. Talk to Pekkle there, who lists a set of flavors for Kirimi-chan to try. Kirimi-chan decides she has to sample every single one.

  • Joke Soda x 1
    • Fizzy Crystal x 1 – made at Crafting Tables from Fizzy Ore, found in the Crystal Caves on the minecart ride
    • Tofu x 1 – Hello Kitty’s return gift
  • Surprising Soda x 1

    • Spinip x 1 – found at the edge of water in Spooky Swamp
    • Toasted Almond x 1 – found in Mount Hothead
  • Swampy Soda x 1

  • Fizzy Crystal x 1 – made at Crafting Tables from Fizzy Ore, found in the Crystal Caves on the minecart ride
  • Spinip x 1 – found at the edge of water in Spooky Swamp

Gift all three sodas to Kirimi-chan. Even with the oddball flavor profiles, she ends up enjoying them all. Pekkle then notes that pizza also comes in many variations, so your next destination becomes the Pizza Oven.

Make Pizza for Kirimi-chan

At the Pizza Oven in Mount Hothead, talk to Badtz-Maru, who is hanging out there. He offers just one flavor suggestion for Kirimi-chan: Everything Pizza—because it’s made with (not literally) everything.

  • Everything Pizza x 1
    • Dough x 1 – Retsuko’s return gift
    • Tofu x 1 – Hello Kitty’s return gift
    • Spinip x 1 – found at the edge of water in Spooky Swamp
  • Dough x 1 – Retsuko’s return gift
  • Tofu x 1 – Hello Kitty’s return gift
  • Spinip x 1 – found at the edge of water in Spooky Swamp

Kirimi-chan does like the Everything Pizza, but she’s a bit disappointed it only has two toppings. She heads to Hello Kitty’s Cafe next.

Make Coffee & Cake, then follow up with Hello Kitty

Make Coffee & Cake For Kirimi-chan

Talk to Hello Kitty in her Cafe in the Seaside Resort Plaza. She recommends making both coffee and cake for Kirimi-chan since the Cafe has an Oven and an Espresso Machine.

  • Volcano Cake x 1
    • Flour x 1 – My Melody’s return gift
    • Chocolate Coin x 1 – found in and around the Shipwreck in Rainbow Reef
    • Magma Bloom x 1 – found in and around the Red-Hot Ruins in Mount Hothead
  • Candied Banana Coffee x 1
    • Candlenut x 1 – Hangyodon’s return gift
    • Banana x 1 – Pompompurin’s return gift
    • Candy Cloud x 1 – Cinnamoroll’s return gift
  • Flour x 1 – My Melody’s return gift
  • Chocolate Coin x 1 – found in and around the Shipwreck in Rainbow Reef
  • Magma Bloom x 1 – found in and around the Red-Hot Ruins in Mount Hothead
  • Candlenut x 1 – Hangyodon’s return gift
  • Banana x 1 – Pompompurin’s return gift
  • Candy Cloud x 1 – Cinnamoroll’s return gift

Gift both items to Kirimi-chan. She enjoys them a lot, though she eats them in a slightly unusual way—pouring the coffee onto the cake like lava.

Kirimi-chan sprints back to City Town to update Usahana on everything she tried. Hello Kitty worries that Kirimi-chan may have had too much sugar, so she asks you to check in on her.

Talk to Kirimi-chan and Usahana outside of the Imagination Cafe. Kirimi-chan tells Usahana that while she loves the many flavors available across Friendship Island, the Imagination Cafe’s offerings are still her favorites. Usahana runs off, and Hello Kitty remarks that something is clearly on her mind.

Upgrade the Sashimi Spire (and what you get for it)

Although the quest “Fun with Flavors” wraps up here, you still need to upgrade the Sashimi Spire before you can unlock the next quest in the chain. The guide includes the requirements for that upgrade, and this time the Spire requests the following:

  • Sushi Roll x 20
    • Rice x 20 – Usahana’s return gift
    • Seaweed Sheet x 20 – made at Chef’s Station using Seaweed, found in the Sewers
    • Any Ingredient x 60 – each Sushi Roll requires three ingredients. You can mix and match. Some simple options include items provided by characters, such as Strawberries, Flour, and Tofu.
