God of War Ragnarok Player Spots More Phranque and Faye Easter Egg Clues

One sharp-eyed God of War player has spotted what looks like a stealth reference to Laufey’s “cube companion” Phranque in God of War Ragnarok—an easter egg that may further confirm just how long Faye’s story has been in the works.

Even without that added context, the idea of getting a new God of War focused on one of the series’ most intriguing figures was already a big deal. However, the reveal trailer also made the stakes clearer: Laufey’s narrative isn’t happening in isolation, and it appears to be deeply braided into the broader Norse saga.

That development has sparked fresh speculation about what could be uncovered regarding Kratos and Atreus’ journey during Faye’s era in the Everywhen. Lead producer Cory Barlog has previously indicated that he’s been shaping Laufey since the very first Norse game, and the latest Ragnarok discoveries are making that planning feel increasingly concrete.

God Of War Ragnarok Seemingly Hinted At Phranque Without Any Of Us Realising

I Mean, How Would We Ever Guess A Blue Cube Meant Something?

A fan calling themselves SouMorse shared a discovery made while exploring Tyr’s Vault in God of War Ragnarok. Tyr’s Vault is already known for being packed with hidden details and secrets, and this find is notable because it looks meaningless at first glance—until you know what to look for.

SouMorse’s key observation is a painting inside Tyr’s Vault that depicts a blue cube. The cube is described as bearing a striking resemblance to Phranque, including a color scheme that lines up with how Phranque is presented elsewhere.

To make the coincidence harder to dismiss, SouMorse also pointed out a spear placed near the painting, with a blue gem set into it. That gem is said to look extremely similar to the one used across Laufey’s iconography.

On top of that, SouMorse highlighted that the same symbol associated with Laufey shows up on her ash bag and also on Kratos’ shrine. The PlayStation Store listing identifies the symbol as a phoenix—an interpretation that fits naturally with how the series frames Laufey’s imagery.

With additional context already in play—such as the fact that Faye voice actor Deborah Ann Woll was reportedly briefed about the game back in 2018, and that the key art has seemingly remained consistent—these Ragnarok items feel like they’re meant to connect intentionally to what’s coming next. In other words, a random blue cube and matching gem arrangement probably isn’t just random.

What’s more annoying: a cube that talks, or a cuff that does? Only time will tell.
