Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Trailer Boosts Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam Charts

Fans got their first proper look at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 earlier this week, with a new trailer that spotlights four fresh faces while teasing a fifth character hidden in the background. The series is set for a 10-episode season, and the project will be directed by Kai Ikarashi, whose credits include Mob Psycho 100, Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time, and Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade.

That trailer buzz has spilled directly into Night City. In the past few days, Cyberpunk 2077 has climbed the Steam charts and seen a noticeable rise in active players.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Getting A Fresh Player Spike From The New Edgerunners Trailer

When the first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuted in September 2022, Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t just get a bump—it more than tripled its player base. It was a clear example of how well the anime and the game feed into each other, and the pattern appears to be repeating now.

Over the last several days, Cyberpunk 2077 reached a Steam peak of 87,129 players. That’s the highest figure it has posted since October 2024, when 274,526 players were online after the game’s 2.0 update. Compared with last month, the current peak is up 63 percent, while average players are up 25 percent as well. The surge hasn’t been limited to concurrency, either—it’s also pushed the game higher in Steam’s sales rankings.

Thanks to a steep 70 percent discount, Cyberpunk 2077 climbed to seventh place on Steam’s Global Top Selling Games list. It sits behind Steam Machine, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Meccha Chameleaon, Dota 2, and PUBG. Meanwhile, it has jumped ahead of Dead by Daylight, which is prominently marking its tenth anniversary, and The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, which is currently discounted by 90 percent.

With trailers clearly capable of moving the needle for this title, the next question is what happens when Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 actually launches later this fall. Given the amount of new characters introduced so far, plenty of viewers have already started bracing for heartbreak.
