Cobblemon Guide: Catch and Evolve Eevee into Umbreon and Espeon
Umbreon and Espeon are two of the more elusive eeveelutions players chase in Cobblemon, the Pokemon-inspired mod for Minecraft. If you want them, you can either start from an Eevee and evolve it, or search the Overworld for wild Umbreon and Espeon to catch directly.
Below is a full walkthrough for getting the evolution path set up in Cobblemon, plus how to raise Friendship, locate Eevee, and track down Umbreon and Espeon in the wild.
How to Evolve Eevee into Umbreon or Espeon in Cobblemon
In Cobblemon, Eevee can evolve into Umbreon or Espeon once it reaches 160+ Friendship. After your Eevee hits that Friendship threshold, the Evolve option will show up beneath Eevee’s portrait on the status screen.
- Umbreon: wait until nightfall, open Evolve, then choose Umbreon in the Evolution window on the right.
- Espeon: wait until daytime, open Evolve, then choose Espeon in the Evolution window on the right.
How to Find Eevee
Eevee appears as a rare or ultra-rare spawn in any grounded Overworld area. That said, because it shares its spawn pool with many other Pokemon, it’s still extremely difficult to encounter in practice.
If you want to hunt more efficiently, the Cobblemon Pokenav mod (available on CurseForge and Modrinth) is recommended. It adds a Pokenav item that lets you instantly view the exact chance of a Pokemon spawning in the area or biome you’re standing in. The spawn-rate percentage screenshots mentioned here were taken using that mod.
Earlier versions of Cobblemon let players “cheese” Eevee by building a platform above the ocean biome. That approach no longer works, because Eevees no longer spawn in the ocean biome.
How to Increase Friendship in Cobblemon
Friendship can be raised in several ways in Cobblemon:
- Level up.
- Win battles against Pokemon and trainers.
- Walk alongside your Pokemon.
- Feed Friendship-boosting berries (Tamato, Qualot, Pomeg, Kelpsy, Hondew, and Grepa).
- Equip the Soothe Bell held item, which increases every Friendship gain instance by 50%.
- Catch your Pokemon in a Luxury Ball, which increases every Friendship gain instance by +1.
You can check a Pokemon’s Friendship progress in the status screen’s third tab, under “Other.”
Where to Find Umbreon and Espeon in the Wild
- Umbreon can show up as an uncommon, rare, and ultra-rare encounter in almost all Overworld biomes, mirroring Eevee’s broad presence.
- Espeon is significantly rarer. During testing, it only spawned as an ultra-rare encounter in the Volcanic Crater biome in the Overworld, and nowhere else.
Keep in mind, though, that both Eeveelutions have a much lower catch rate than Eevee, and they spawn between level 28 and 53. Plan to bring a strong team and plenty of Ultra Balls before attempting to capture either one.
