Black Ops Zombies Moon: Pack-a-Punch Early in No Man’s Land Guide
Black Ops Zombies’ Moon map has a standout twist on the usual Pack-a-Punch routine. Instead of waiting until later, you can reach the Pack-a-Punch machine right from the start area. It’s also located in No Man’s Land—an open zone where zombies keep spawning nonstop. The danger escalates the longer you remain there: enemies become more aggressive every second, so the key is speed—get in, do the upgrade, and get out.
There’s also a larger goal on Moon tied to Richtofen’s Grand Scheme, with an easter egg campaign spanning both Black Ops and Black Ops 3. Below is a practical walkthrough for packing up before Round 1 every time, plus how to return later.
This same approach can be used on Black Ops 3’s version of Moon as well, though it’s much more manageable there thanks to GobbleGums.
How to Pack-a-Punch Before Round 1 on Moon
-
Immediately after spawning, run in circles and melee zombies. Each kill grants 130 points. Your target is to build your score to roughly 2,000 before the first alarm goes off. Once that first alarm triggers, zombies will begin sprinting. For that initial alarm phase, zombies can be dispatched with two stabs, so try to land a few melee kills before you start running harder.
-
Next, train around the circular area in the middle, doing your best to avoid the water because it slows you down. The early waves include hellhounds: the first hellhound spawns die in one hit with the knife. Once all of your zombies have spawned, cook a grenade for 4 ticks, then throw it at your own feet so it detonates behind you.
-
The grenade blast should either fully kill the zombies or leave some as crawlers. Any crawlers that remain can then be stabbed for a one-hit kill. Repeat the training loop with the new group until you run out of grenades. At that point, you should be sitting at about 4,000 points.
-
Keep circling the zombies and switch to the 1911 starting pistol. Use your bullets by shooting clusters, aiming for multiple zombies with a single magazine’s worth of shots to maximize point gain. When you’re out of ammo, you should be close to 5,000 points.
-
Now it’s time to Pack-a-Punch. After upgrading, continue moving around just long enough that it’s safe to retrieve the Mustang & Sally from the Pack-a-Punch machine. Then, make your way to the teleporter so you can reach Moon on Round 1.
Before you commit to the run, remember to pick up the P.E.S. suit so you don’t suffocate. Also, try not to fire the Mustang & Sally indoors—its explosive rounds can break the glass, and once power is enabled those rooms have no oxygen. That forces you to keep the P.E.S. suit on.
How to Get Back to Pack-a-Punch on Moon
When you want to return to Pack-a-Punch in later rounds, you’ll need to move through Tunnel 11 or Tunnel 6—both routes lead to the same destination. From there, take the stairs up to the laboratory.
From the third floor, go into the left room and head out toward the exterior of Moon (again, keep the P.E.S. suit equipped so you don’t run out of air).
Once outside, there’s a teleporter positioned to the right of the AK-74U Wall-Buy. All teammates must stand on it together to travel back to Groom Lake, where the Pack-a-Punch machine is set up in the center. However, the longer you stay in Groom Lake, the more intense the zombie pressure becomes—so treat it like a quick pit stop rather than an extended hangout.
It’s also useful to know that JuggerNog and Speed Cola only appear in the Pack-a-Punch / Area 51 area. These Perk Machines rotate: each time you visit Groom Lake, one of the two will be active.
One more limitation: you can’t teleport back to Pack-a-Punch twice within the same round. You’ll have to wait for the next round to begin. After that, allow about two minutes for the green lights above the teleporter to turn on, which triggers the cage protecting the teleporter to release.
Finally, you shouldn’t attempt repeat trips without the Hacker Device and Gersh Devices. The Hacker lets you close the doors around Pack-a-Punch to safely upgrade your weapons for 30 seconds. The Gersh Device can be thrown to distract and eliminate all zombies, giving you a safer window to retreat back to the teleporter.
