Black Ops 2 Buried Guide: Buildable Machines, Traps, and Part Locations
There are four buildable machines in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies’ Buried map: the Turbine, the Subsurface Resonator, the Head Chopper, and the Trample Steam. Each one has a distinct purpose—so if you’re planning high-round trap setups, you’ll want to know what they do and where their components are.
The Turbine powers trap systems, the Subsurface Resonator functions like a portable Thunder Gun, the Head Chopper—true to its name—can chop heads, and the Trample Steam helps fling you or nearby zombies away to reposition fights.
Below are the component locations for every Buried buildable, plus the build spots we’d pick for convenience and high-round strategies. Keep in mind you can carry only one part at a time, so be prepared for repeat trips.

Even though you can craft these items at any workbench, the locations listed below are where we’d place them for smoother runs and stronger endgame trap play.
How to Build the Turbine on Buried (All Parts Locations)
All Turbine parts are located in the General Store:
- Mannequin: In the back right corner of the back room on the ground floor.
- Fan: On the second floor—go immediately right to a cabinet in the back room.
- Tail: On the ground floor—head to the far left to find the Tail on shelves.
I usually craft the Turbine in the Saloon, since it’s only a short sprint from the spot where you can camp around Jugger-Nog.
How to Build the Subsurface Resonator on Buried (All Parts Locations)
All Subsurface Resonator parts are located in the General Store:
- Wheel: On the front counter as soon as you enter.
- Speaker: Behind the front counter, tucked beneath a small painting in the back area.
- Mount: Near the back door of the General Store, leaning against a wall across from the table.
- Motor: At the top of the stairs, in the right-side corner.
I build the Subsurface Resonator up the stairs inside the sheriff’s house, because it’s the one trap I never want to lose while I’m camping for high rounds.
How to Build the Head Chopper on Buried (All Parts Locations)
All Head Chopper parts are located inside the General Store:
- Crank: On the shelf in the center of the ground floor.
- Hinge: On the front counter, to the right.
- Saw: Inside a barrel behind the front counter on the left.
- Stand: In the back room on the ground floor, left side behind the counter.
I craft the Head Chopper in the Courthouse. It’s helpful, though it isn’t as valuable as the Turbine or the Subsurface Resonator. If it runs out of juice, I use the Paralyzer to bypass obstacles and get it back quickly.
How to Build the Trample Steam on Buried (All Parts Locations)
All Trample Steam parts are located inside the General Store:
- Flag: Inside a barrel on the right, underneath the stairs.
- Motor: On the shelves to the left in the center of the main room.
- Chicken Wire: On the upstairs banister area after you climb the stairs.
- Bellows: Upstairs in the first room on the right, next to a desk.
I build the Trample Steam in the Church, mainly because it’s quite far away—and honestly, I don’t plan to go there unless I have to.
