There’s also a look at Black Ops 1’s trophy list, along with practical guidance on how to chase every achievement and earn the Platinum, including any DLC requirements.

Kino der Toten

Kino der Toten is the default map in Black Ops 1 Zombies, and it’s unlocked as soon as you boot up the game. This is where you’ll step into the Theater of the Damned, as Richtofen, Dempsey, Nikolai, and Takeo try to survive endless waves of the undead.

Kino der Toten doesn’t have an easter egg main quest. Instead, it leans into straightforward, arcade-style survival—much like the earlier World at War experience. Even though there isn’t much to chase beyond the run itself, it’s still regarded as a classic that shows how far the mode has progressed. If you’re returning for nostalgia (or just want to see what made Zombies click in the first place), this one is the natural starting point.

FIVE

Five isn’t unlocked by default, but it is a base (vanilla) map for Black Ops 1. To unlock it, either finish the Campaign or quickly type “3ARC UNLOCK” in the Main Menu terminal. Like Kino der Toten, Five also has no easter egg, and it’s known for being a tough, no-frills challenge.

Five shifts away from the Ultimis crew and puts President John F. Kennedy, Robert McNamara, Richard Nixon, and Fidel Castro inside the Pentagon, where they’re forced to see how many rounds they can hold off against zombies—along with the Pentagon Thief.

Dead Ops Arcade

Dead Ops Arcade isn’t a standard Zombies map. Instead, it’s a hidden arcade-style game you unlock by leaving the Main Menu chair and entering “DOA” on the terminal. The gameplay is a top-down shooter with zombie elements, but it’s built with a twist.

There’s no easter egg, but there is a clear goal: survive through higher rounds, select from distinct route options, and eventually reach the intimidating Cosmic Silverback. Compared to the mainline maps, it’s less punishing and more like a rollercoaster you can play with friends when you want something different without committing to a full match structure.

Ascension

Ascension is the DLC map included with First Strike (Map Pack 1), and it’s the first Black Ops Zombies entry that introduces an easter egg main quest. You can use a dedicated Black Ops 1 Zombies Ascension Easter Egg guide to follow a step-by-step walkthrough—so long as you bring a four-player squad.

Ascension remains one of the most remembered entries, and the addition of PhD Flopper is a major reason it sticks in players’ minds. Even with the Space Monkeys adding plenty of stress, running it with a full team is one of the most enjoyable ways to play this era of Zombies—so get ready to launch into the madness.

Call of the Dead

Call of the Dead is the second DLC map bundled with Escalation (Map Pack 2). Instead of using the Ultimis lineup, it switches to a celebrity cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker, Danny Trejo, and Robert Englund. They’re thrown into a Siberian outpost to fight off the undead, while George Romero plays the role of an unkillable zombie boss.

The Black Ops 1 Zombies Call of the Dead Easter Egg Guide can be followed in both solo and co-op. The steps change depending on how many players are on the map, so it adapts to your group size. It’s another fan favorite, and there are plenty of reasons people keep coming back—especially if you want to see how the easter egg structure works here.

Shangri-La

Shangri-La is the penultimate Black Ops 1 Zombies map and is included as part of Annihilation (Map Pack 3). With Ultimis returning, you’ll be dealing with yet another easter egg to finish—and you can use the full Black Ops 1 Shangri-La Easter Egg guide to help you and your four-player squad reach the Focusing Stone.

Even with its reputation as an interesting challenge, Shangri-La isn’t always treated like a “classic” in the same way as some earlier maps. The pressure comes from multiple directions at once: monkeys that steal your perks, Shriekers that blind and deafen you, Napalm zombies that explode, and traps that funnel you into tight spaces. It’s a deep test of survival and planning, and the Pack-a-Punch setup also pushes you toward coordinated team communication—so if you’re trying it in public lobbies, it can be a rough ride.

Moon

Moon is the final Black Ops 1 Zombies map, included in Rezurrection (Map Pack 4). It’s also known for one of the most interesting easter egg requirements: you need Richtofen, a full squad of four, and you must have already completed the easter eggs from Call of the Dead and Shangri-La.

With a Black Ops 1 Zombies Moon Easter Egg Guide, you should be able to work through Richtofen’s larger plan—but Moon still isn’t easy. The map includes oxygen-compressed areas that demand a P.E.S. suit, a Hacker Device used to keep excavators from wrecking parts of the environment, and a Pack-a-Punch setup that can produce infinite-spawn zombies. That mix is exactly why Moon is often treated as a standout finale.

World at War Maps (Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, Der Riese)

Purchasing Rezurrection Map Pack 4 also unlocks all of World at War’s Zombies maps: Nacht der Untoten, Vurruckt, Shi No Numa, and Der Riese. Each map is presented in its original form, with the exception of Mule Kick and an updated Mystery Box pool. Even without easter eggs on every entry, there’s a strong reason to revisit these foundational maps that helped kick off the series.

Every one of these maps has its own look and identity, and going back is a nostalgic jolt. Starting from Nacht der Untoten as the earliest survival baseline, you can track the evolution through Der Riese—where teleporters and Pack-a-Punch show how quickly the mode grew. The lore is dense, the gameplay keeps flowing, and the horror has the kind of memorability that sticks after you leave.
