Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: Where to Start The Maroon Assassin Hunt

The Maroon Assassin is a Templar Hunt quest in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and it marks the start of Anto’s investigation. Anto is an Assassin operating out of Kingston, and your job is to help him gather the intel needed to move the hunt forward. If you’re trying to figure out exactly where to look and who to listen to, here’s the clearest route from the opening steps to the moment you can complete the quest.

The Maroon Assassin

As Anto’s first Templar Hunt mission, The Maroon Assassin begins with a straightforward plan: set sail for Kingston and meet Anto at the local Assassin Bureau. Once you link up, the objective becomes clear—Anto needs Edward’s assistance in freeing enslaved people held by the Templars. The problem is that there’s no direct information about where the captives are being kept, so you’ll have to start by interrogating the people on the ground to figure out the next move.

To begin your search, head west toward the tavern. That’s where the town chatter starts to matter. Inside, you’ll notice two guards talking loudly near the back wall. Don’t waste time trying to force the conversation—move to the table behind them and read the Notice of Dismissal. That piece of intel is what sets the rest of the mission in motion.

With the information from the notice in hand, you’re directed north to Kingston’s church area. When you arrive, you’ll find a trio of redcoats patrolling the streets nearby. This is the part where patience pays off: you’ll want to follow them quietly, using the rooftops whenever possible to avoid drawing attention.

Eventually, one of the redcoats will slip into an alley, triggering a scripted moment where the group reacts with fear and they flee as if they’re being followed. The important detail here is that this sequence can still happen even if you’re already excellent at stealth—so if the event plays out regardless, it’s not a failure on your part.

Once the guards separate, you can take down any of the three to secure the information you need and finish the quest. If you stayed on the rooftops and tailed them cleanly, the interaction prompt for tackling should appear right when they split up. No extended pursuit is required—just make the right takedown at the right time and wrap up Anto’s first hunt.
