My Hero Academia: Top 8 Character Power Boosts Across the Final Saga

My Hero Academia has officially closed the book on its long-running saga, finishing after the final conflict with the Paranormal Liberation Front. For years, fans have followed the Heroes through story arcs that often spotlight different Pro candidates, with the majority of their character writing shaped by Kohei Horikoshi. Across that journey, many of the aspiring Heroes continued to evolve as they chased their dream of becoming Professionals—though a select few managed to grow so dramatically that they began to outpace several established Pro Heroes.

From humble beginnings, Izuku Midoriya built himself into a Hero whose power now stands alongside the series’ legends, with forms that can rival both All Might and All For One.

8 Endeavor

Endeavor’s trajectory in My Hero Academia has been one of the most noticeable examples of character development. Early on, he was an abusive husband and father, making him among the hardest to like at the start of the story. Still, the series steadily shows him changing, and that growth has been substantial.

Afterward, Endeavor dedicated himself to making amends and trying to bring his family back together. He repeatedly pushed himself to the point of self-sacrifice for the sake of everyone else, which lands well with viewers. His power also advanced in a meaningful way—once he truly understood what it meant to be “the strongest Hero,” he unlocked new levels of strength. During the Final War, he even held his ground against Prime All For One, demonstrating an enormous power-up.

7 Tokoyami

During the Final War, Tokoyami’s progress accelerated fast. He reached a level of power that hadn’t been seen before, letting him contend with All For One for a brief window. Tokoyami was dangerous enough that All For One even considered taking his Quirk. Meanwhile, Hawks viewed Tokoyami as his ideal protégé, believing he had the talent to surpass Hawks one day.

Tokoyami still has more growth ahead of him in the long run, but even within the Final War, he already demonstrated impressive power gains and serious combat momentum.

6 Kyoka Jiro

Kyoka Jiro may not have received the biggest raw strength boost in the Final War portion of the story, but she was still crucial to the fight against All For One. She carried out her role effectively, even though it came with a heavy personal cost—she lost her ear. Still, Jiro’s growth was clear, and she fought with determination during the last arc.

Her improvement showed up both in how she operates as a Hero and in her bravery. On top of that, she continues fighting alongside Deku and the others, supported by major power-ups that fit what she’s earned.

5 Ochaco Uraraka

Ochaco is one of the characters who received real attention during the Final War segment. In that arc, she faced Toga and accepted Toga’s true feelings, leading to an especially emotional exchange for players and viewers. The conflict delivered a satisfying end to Ochaco’s character arc while also strengthening her overall development.

It was also the moment she gained a major boost in strength. Ochaco was able to reawaken her Quirk, a turning point that let her defeat Toga. Even more importantly, it helped save an entire unit of Heroes across multiple battlefields.

All Might remains one of the best fighters in My Hero Academia, but even a powerhouse like him couldn’t win every fight.

4 Shoto Todoroki

In the Final War saga, Shoto Todoroki pushed his Quirk even further during his showdown with his brother, Toya. Shoto demonstrated his energy, his exceptional Quirk control, and—most of all—his determination to stop Toya from walking deeper into his destructive path.

As a Hero, Shoto’s growth was significant, and he reached new strength milestones through his Fire and Ice abilities. At the same time, he evolved as a Quirk user in a deeper way. By unlocking Phosphor, he managed to surpass his father, Endeavor, and also overpower his brother, Toya.

3 Katsuki Bakugo

Near the end of the story, Bakugo was already getting access to impressive power changes, and it made sense that he would become even better in the Final War phase—both as a person and as a fighter.

Bakugo’s development has been steady over the years, and after his Quirk reawakened, his strength jumped to a new level. That power gave him access to Cluster, which boosted him heavily. He was able to defeat All For One on his own, a major accomplishment by any standard.

2 All Might

Even though many fans might not have expected it, All Might still found room to grow during the Final War saga. He didn’t want to stand aside while the biggest conflict of the series unfolded in front of him, leaving him unable to do anything. With Melissa’s help, he developed Armored All Might and joined the battle against All For One.

Resolve, power, and a costly payoff

All Might’s resolve showed massive growth as the story pushed him forward. He also managed to damage All For One to a meaningful degree, which was a standout moment for fans. Yes, he received strength upgrades, but they were temporary—and by the end of the fight, he lost everything that had carried him through.

1 Deku

Of course, the series lead, Izuku Midoriya—also known as Deku—showed major growth during the Final War saga as well. Over time, he transformed from a Quirkless kid into a Hero who saved the world. In the Final War, Deku gained multiple power-ups and fully tapped into the potential of One For All, even taking perfect control of the vestiges inside him. Both as a character and as a combatant, Deku’s development here was exceptional.

His performance was so impactful that he fought not only Shigaraki Tomura, but then battled All For One immediately afterward. Unfortunately, after the fight against Shigaraki Tomura, Deku lost his Quirk, leaving him extremely weak for a period. Still, in the story’s final chapter, he received a significant strength boost as Melissa and all of his friends helped craft a Hero Armor for him. With that Hero Armor, he’s back among the top-tier Heroes, currently standing in the Top 5.

My Hero Academia is available to watch in its entirety on Crunchyroll.
